Hi bro,
My personal experience was that the countries which openly have ads out will be asking for a higher price.
As they would need to pay tax on their incomes, moreover if they are doing it in countries that is illegal, a bit of police money they have to prepare, if and most likely when the tour get stopped at a police check point or police raid.
Going at it alone maybe an expensive way to go too.
I have done both, and both have their pros and cons; its all come down to how much you want to pay in the end.
Hine sight is 20/20.
I have gone on my own and ending up paying 3 to 5 times the price that a local would pay. Not been cheated or anything...but not knowing the local practicing
Example...in China if alone you end up paying the full price for the KTV room...of you join a tour you would share the room cost evenly. So if the cost of the room is 2000 RMB alone...instead of 400 RMB in a group of 5.
In another case, massage charges...where you are told to take 2 sessions before happy ending where you could do it in one session. Or even dancers asking for 50 LDs before have sex with you. when it only needed 20 LDs.
what about the bar fines to take girls out?
How much have one over spent???? 100 bucks 500 bucks or 1000 bucks each night.
That is not speaking on a safe night, unlike those scams you see on discovery channel.
I am not saying to use a tour guide company but I compare it to the hassle and cluelessness of going at it alone and paying someone that guide you the venues and advise you on the pricing.
It is everyone's choice to use a tour or not.
But I keep hearing that agent should earn no more than 20% of the service is charging....so if the educated local had the sex 50 bucks than the tour company should get 10 bucks....haahahaahaha....remember we are not local...what happen?
This is my take on it...do a tour or go at it alone...personal choice. But I would think without the tour how much more would I have to pay for being clueless.
If the I end up pay 3 times more than the local and using the tour I and only paying 2 as the local does.
..I am good with it.
