not bad for starters? amidst the hype from the up & coming IR, the much talked about F1 night race, and now our geylang commercial sex scene is featured on the global platform - via art film.

interesting title too... "Pleasure Factory"...

its only 1 art film screened in cannes, france leh... how would it be boosting our econ? many film critics flock to cannes instead.

unless the movie can be screened here? but then again, the synopsis of the film might be thrown out the window by our over protective censorship board, reputated to cut R(A)/ R21 films until no difference from PG/NC16.

i think the viewership here in sg, might not be anything to boast about too, cos it wont be necessary to watch the film & "be involved", as said the director (when he explained the silence in the film).... many of us samsters are already in the thick of the action, some might even qualify to be their EP/ SW/ DOP too...

oh... and come to think of it. saw the newsflash on tv yesterday... there were some short blurbs featuring few stretches/flanks of PRC solicitors, as well as some short blurbs of cat40 tank. hmmmmm.... i wonder if the cat40 hse gets paid royalties for featuring the gals.

also featured some coffeeshop scenes, some people window shopping at cat40...etc. for all u know... might even capture some familiar faces???

sure hope this film wouldnt be screened here... reason is obvious for some, if not... most of us...

Anyway, films like this which are always subjective and controversial in nature always bodes well with the viewers. It creates conspircay theories on different possible endings and what may have been...?

I don't think this is something that will put on on the "world map" per se though...Annabel Chong did us more proud globally.

come to think of it, we're supposed to move towards being a 1st world country, we're trying to promote art scene, but at the end, censorship so tight..... its no wonder why the arts here is still struggling.

with the IR up & coming, i think its also due for the regulations to lax & bring in more adult entertainment. that way, there wouldnt be issues of vices aka illegal happenings.

Thread starter been low profile for some time. Maybe he's the chief consultant for the movie script? Or maybe the script writer borrow idea from his famous thread also.
