When something happens which could cause either a political upset or social or security worries, I think we have to watch very carefully.” Photo of Najib and Lee Hsien Loong from straitstimes The two Prime Ministers have close relationships and they hold yearly retreat to discuss about matters concerning the two neighbouring countries. In April this year, the two met up over a discussion over the KL-Singapore high speed rail at the Singapore Istana house. Prime Minister Najib is currently facing corruption allegations from US journalist Wall Street Journal, which published evidences pointing that the Malaysian PM siphoned millions of funds from the sovereign wealth fund company, 1MDB. Coincidentally, a Singapore bank was involved in a series of bank transfers involving the SWF company and PM Najib’s account.
