In a role that included singing and dancing, Mr. Hatoyama played Rosario, a retired politician who served as the first female president of the U.S. Other prominent names in the show, called “Waist Size Story,” included Orix Corp. Senior Chairman Yoshihiko Miyauchi and Japanese Red Cross Society President Tadateru Konoe. Mr. Hatoyama served as prime minister for nine months in 2009-2010 and chose not to run for a lower house seat when his term expired in 2012. He helped launch the Democratic Party of Japan, the country’s largest opposition party, in the late 1990s. His grandfather, Ichiro Hatoyama, was the Liberal Democratic party's first prime minister after its formation in 1955; today, Yukio Hatoyama is preparing to lead only the second non-LDP government for 54 years. Like many senior Japanese politicians, Hatoyama has politics in his blood. His father, Iichiro, was a foreign minister and his younger brother, Kunio, recently served as a minister in Taro Aso's LDP government, which faces defeat today.
