Any way to check numbers?

Since here seems all sort of related stuff also got, so may as well gain summore xtra knowledge.

Is there any way to check who the owner of a line is, if the line is a residential one?[We read about a mini M1 saga where it appears if it is mobile there is no way to check] But strange eh..if u can check via name for phone numbers, why not the other way round?

4 u all , lets say, some1 calls your gf or wife n u r curious to know what. Or say, u hav sum unidentified nuisance callers

For america there is already such a service. It is called http://info.yellowpages.com/asp/part...versephone.asp the complementing page for www.yellowpages.com. Sg leh?

Haven't tried it myself but if you have the CD telephone directory from Yellow Pages, you may be able to export the data into an Excel spreadsheet then do a sort by ascending or descending number and find the name and address of the subscriber. Would be curious to know if this works...

The CD residential or yellowpages has no such feature (as what bhoven said).

To ThaiG, There are a few ways to check the registered mobile user's name. I repeat, it can be done to check the person's name through caller's number. However, I can't and mustn't reveal these methods to you.

In the States, anything also boleh! What the Americans wanted, they fought for their rights and protested. So, not surprising if States has this service. Don't forget, here controlled by LKY. Everything must listen to him.

Well, my dad used to check address from phone numbers. Think he called the operator and made a big fuss

I do not think your dad had called the operator. The operator do not this thing. The operator not scared of you even if you threathened the operator to find out the mysterious caller's identity. The operator confirmed will not entertained this type of request.

Sorry that I did not make myself clear...

Am not that familiar with Excel but I know that data entered into its spread sheet can be sorted the way I described as well as in alpha order...Perhaps some IT experts can clarify this?

all the owner needs to do to keep his line a private one is to pay $5 monthly.. and it will not be reflexed in the yellow pages..

Yeah i know what you mean.
I was thinking along the lines of something more immediate.
Something like you see in Matrix and Enemy of the state.

Would be cool to tell the person on IRC "Im running a trace", and later you tell the person the addresse, and the phone number. Guranteed to freak them out.

I tried this trick before, not sure it will work for you, mayb for some.

call back by public phone and say you want to deliver a TV, waiting downstair and ask where is your place?
the reply will be, "you got wrong number..."
you have to quickly ask again in a nice tone (cannot sound angry)"Are you Tan Ah Kow? you sure I was given this number leh", then he may reveal the name...
if its a maid, chances very high, likely will reveal the name.

then you may follow by asking "this is not 444 Toa Payoh meh?"
he or the maid may reply "no this is 555 Bedok lah, way way off!"

...my case was a maid and bingo! fortunately the guy mistaken my identity...long story.....

Ther is a software in the market..office in Beach road (Textile centre). You have the data updated to 2 current months. I used that before..different price will have more or less info accordingly.

Yes.....there is a way to check number from the hm or hp tel......but u need to pay some coffee $$$ to get the things done......
