Thumbs up 1st In the World : Registration may close earlier due to patient load

Registration may close earlier due to patient load

Saturday, Apr 12, 2014
The Straits Times

We thank Ms Evelyn Ong Foo Chou for her feedback ("So hard to consult a polyclinic doc"; Tuesday).

While we try to attend to as many patients as possible, we would have to close registration when there are too many patients who have registered earlier. This is to ensure that all registered patients get sufficient time with their doctors to receive appropriate treatment and care.

Though registration may close earlier, we will continue to attend to patients waiting for doctor consultations and those at other service points in the clinic, usually beyond clinic hours.

We will also assess the conditions of arriving patients and prioritise their needs. Patients with medical emergencies will be attended to immediately.

Patients are advised to refer to our website for updates on the queue situation and registration status prior to visiting our polyclinics.

Patients who hold the Health Assist card can also enjoy greater convenience and subsidised care at more than 1,000 general practitioner clinics islandwide under the enhanced Community Health Assist Scheme.

The well-being of our patients is of the utmost importance to us. There are ongoing efforts in SingHealth Polyclinics to improve the overall experience for our patients, such as infrastructure planning and training of our health-care professionals to build our capabilities and capacity.

Letter from How Choon How (Dr)

Clinic Director
