SINGAPORE : NSmen can look forward to more activities that let them bond with their children.

This comes with the renewal of SAFRA's partnership with the Dads for Life movement, which promotes strong bonds between fathers and children.

Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Maliki Osman, who is also deputy president of SAFRA, announced this at a Father's Day event on Sunday.

With $700,000 in funding from Dads for Life, SAFRA plans to engage 60,000 NSmen and their children over the next two years.

This will be done through a greater variety of family-centric activities.

Dr Maliki also said over the past two years, more than 50,000 NSmen and their children have participated in activities organised by SAFRA and Dads for Life.

"Family is the bedrock of NSmen's commitment to national defence, so we want to make sure that we strengthen every family. We are glad that the family movement is something that is actively being promoted, and SAFRA is very keen to ensure that we provide NSmen with opportunities to be good fathers. When you have a strong relationship within the family, it gives a better sense of home, and with that, a better sense of the meaning to what it is that we are defending. We are defending our home," he said.

Separately, in a Facebook post, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong wished all dads a Happy Father's Day.

He added that nowadays, many young fathers are much more involved in their children's lives, and they believe in spending time with their kids, and so, strengthening their families.
