Thumbs up The Public Service today is not the one of yesterday

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

The Public Service today is not the one of yesterday

May 26th, 2013 | Author: Contributions

The Public Service today is not the Public Service of
yesterday. Too much of politicking without really doing their best can be
deduced. The failure of the leadership will also be a reflection on the failure
of the Public Service. For simplicity sake and for the benefit of all
Singaporeans of our kind, that is born and bred here, let analyse the
failings:

Education

Will any principals or higher authority do a study of Singaporeans in terms
of their IQ and EQ and tell us they lack talents compared to the foreign so
called talented students? Was giving scholarships for free justified when our
own Singaporeans many with good qualifications but not given the opportunity
because of the second language and so on? Did any education high officer do a
study and tell us that Singaporeans lack talents? Tell us the score of the
foreign students against the local students? Is it shade better or far better
than Singaporeans? Then what were they doing in assuring that our education
system is fine tuned to be the best with our own Singaporeans making the grade
against the foreign students? So much is said and can we have quantifiable
figures not only on IQ but a test done for EQ as well. A culture and
assimilation is far important then a piece of paper! Answers???

Employment

Will any Ministry of Manpower high official certify that all so called FTs
qualifications were vetted and even an independent authoritative body confirming
that the same FTs are from reputable universities? Are checks and authentication
really made? Next when filling positions in Banking and IT for example did they
ever realise that Singaporeans were not given opportunities and did they go
after the employers that Singaporean First is an important criteria for
professional employment passes? Show proof that Singaporeans are not talented
enough and show us some samples!!! This will have clearly prevented the herd
instint in preventing so much of foreigners bunching together in many
professions eg Banking and IT for FT Indians, Retail for Pinoys and so on. Show
us proof that a study was done and the entry of so many FTs was a result of that
study!!! Building enclaves of FTs in many professions is unSingaporean! Facts
must qualify entry???

Housing

Public housing is originally meant for Singaporeans. Why was the door opened
to foreigners many of whom have got PRs and even renting the premises? How
stingent is the checks by the HDB or Town Council on such abuses ? Is it full
proof?

So like these there are so many questions Singaporeans can pose? Where was
the Public Service that was supposed to advice the Government and the
Leadership? Would it be better if the Public Service are separated and will
advice the Government on some of the social ills of policies and if nothing is
done then the Govt is to be blamed.

The Public Service should have parallel lines separating them. If they failed
to advice the Govt then they have to take a share of the blame.

Who to Blame?
