file recovery

hi bros, humbly seeking your advice.

i took some photos of a lady friend the other day, however she made me delete the risque shots on the spot. just wondering if anyone knows of a way to recover them.

i've tried a few different file recovery softwares, however they are only able to recover photos that were deleted via windows, i.e. upload to pc and delete while memory card is attached to usb port. so far i haven't been able to recover the pics that were deleted by the camera itself, i.e. take photo, then delete photo using the playback delete function.

help!

Re: file recovery

To Thread-starter,

The main thing is to not use that memory card for anything else. Shut the camera off, or remove that card, and use another.

The actual image data is probably still there, and can be read by software that scans the entire card, and does not just read the FAT (File Allocation Table).
Quite often, 'deleting' an image is just removing the directory entries (on the FAT) of those shots so the camera thinks the card is empty and all available space can be used for recording new images.

Taking more pictures will cause the camera to overwrite the pics you want to recover, and reduce the chance of successful recovery.

Re: file recovery

I have ever successfully use R-Studio to recover deleted file.
Disk Recovery Software and Hard Drive Recovery tool for Windows

But u need to purchase the code online.

R-Studio recovers files:
• That have been removed without the Recycle Bin, or when the Recycle Bin has been emptied;
• Removed by a virus attack or power failure;
• After the partition with the files was reformatted, even for different file system;
• When the partition structure on a hard drive was changed or damaged. R-Studio can scan the drive trying to find previously
existed partitions and recover files from the found partitions.
• From disks with bad sectors. R-Studio can copy the entire disk or its part into an image file and then process such image files.

Re: file recovery

99% of memory sticks/cards/flash cards are using FAT32.
When you delete a file on FAT 32 it actually isn't deleted at all, all that is done is the cluster entries are removed from the file allocation table which means, the data is still there.

You need to get a FAT32 recovery utility that will look at all the clusters on the card and try and put the files back together for you.

The key is to NOT use the card until you try the recovery as new data could over write the clusters you want to recover.
