Chapter 4:

I didn't even bother to put on my clothes. Instead, I swept them under the bed and frantically crawled underneath to hide as well. My heart raced, pounding against the wooden floor as I heard Ying Ying's quick movements above.

Ying Ying, with commendable speed, threw on a shirt and slipped into her school shorts that I had tossed aside onto the floor before our wild sex.

Her breath was heavy, a mix of anxious and panic. She then covered the bed by pulling a blanket over the partially wet and sticky bedsheet in a few swift motions.

At that point in time, her baby was still crying, adding to the chaos of the moment.

Before she could even reach the door, the person who knocked took the initiative to open it already, stepping into the room uninvited.

That night, he was standing in Ying Ying’s room with his upper body completely bare, wearing just boxers and nothing else.

“Why you drank so much?” Ah Soon Uncle asked, giving one of the beer cans on the floor a light kick. He didn’t know those cans might have been there for a while.

The beer can rolled slowly under the bed, towards my face. I tried to hold my breath and not make a sound.

Ying Ying didn’t utter a word, she was soothing her baby and almost instantly the little boy quieted down.

Ying Ying then gently placed her baby back into the crib.

“出去，我要睡觉了,” Ying Ying said coldly, her tone so calm it seemed as if this wasn’t her first time dismissing Ah Soon Uncle from her room.

Ah Soon Uncle ignored her request and daringly wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his unwelcome embrace.

“Why are you so cold today? 平常都是你都不舍得我走的叻?” Ah Soon Uncle whispered lovingly.

“讲骗话,” Ying Ying firmly rebutted.

I could hear ruffling sounds, as if Ying Ying was struggling to wrestle her way out of his arms but failing to do so.

“我新年包你的红包不够咩？做么不开心?” Ah Soon Uncle asked. Clearly, he had given her a big Ang Pau!

Ying Ying was a greedy slut indeed. I felt sorry for Ah Kai.

I then cautiously got out from under her bed, patting the dust away on my chest and stomach and watching her cry.

I didn’t dare to leave the room as I was not sure if Ah Soon Uncle was still wandering creepily outside. And at the same time, I also didn’t have the heart to ask Ying Ying to go outside and check for me.

I just stood and watched.

At that fateful night, Ying Ying cried herself to sleep.
