Returning to the origins...... in case those too young to remember the history of the Geylang brothels...... the first original whorehouses in this area were run by the Hakka triads.
And if you jalan jalan around the vicinity...... you would have noticed that there are many clubhouses / clan associations of Hakka origins in the area.
Even the late LKY would drop by bi-monthly to attend the committee meetings at the Dapo Clan Assn in his younger days. Some oldtimers say he was their legal advisor then.
