Driving directions & travelling info to the cheong places in JB

Would like to start a new thread to provide detail information for the benefit of spore samsters who have their own transport to help them find their way to the cheong places in Johor bahru.

Having own transport like car, van, motorcycles, scooter, etc can help explore more places than taking public transport and walking by foot in the shortest possible time.

Any information or questions/queries pertaining to how to go to a certain joint are welcome to post here.

Having stayed in JB for many years, have witnessed the transformation of the road system in JB town and outskirt areas.

Sometimes GPS or goggle map information may not be up to date as the city of Johor Bahru is constantly undergoing a major change and improvement in its infrastructure.

The following are some examples:

1) Changed to one way street from two way roads like Jalan Tun Abdul Razak (between city square and JB sentral building) due to the increase in vehicle traffic flow as the newly constructed komtar building and city square have attracted many visitors to its shopping mall.

2) More trunk roads expanded to ease the traffic jam like having increase of 2 or 3 more lanes. Example : Some part of Jalan Tebrau and Jalan skudai.

3) More road interchanges have been built to link up the highway and trunk road as well as to allow vehicle to U-turn. Example: seri-alam interchange, taman perling interchange, taman tasek interchange at end of jalan tun Abdul razak, Ledang height interchange near 2nd link, etc

4) More flyovers have been built over the recent years to eliminate the need to wait at the traffic light and provide continuous travel end up reduce travelling time from point A to B. The most recent flyover constructed which was opened to traffic was near kampong melayu majidee area along jalan tebrau. Another important flyover is at the intersection between pasir gudang highway and jalan pandan where the ex-Carrefour is

5) More road bridges are constructed to cater to the increase in traffic during peak period. Example is the newly constructed bridge that link Taman Bayu Puteri to Permas Jaya.

Before that the Permas Jaya bridge only has 2 lanes, one lane for each direction with no centre divider. It often cause congestion even during off peak period. However, when the other new Permas Jaya bridge is ready with 2 new lanes, both bridges now have 2 lanes in each directions.

6) More highways been built to link up the townships directly eliminating the need to travel one big round. JB has been very successful in this. For the past 2-3 years period only, the following newly constructed highways are already in operation:

a) EDL highway link the CIQ directly to the North South highway at pandan with many exit along the highway leading to permas jaya, taman sentosa, taman pelangi, etc. It also help to ease the heavy traffic at Jalan Tebrau.

b) JB east coast highway link permas jaya town to the east of JB like taman megaria, taman rinting without the need to travel to pasir gudang highway.

c) Senai-Desaru expressway that link senai airport at the west to taman gaya at the north and then to desaru at the east. Last time I remember driving from JB town to Desaru takes me 2 hours plus to reach because during that time there were only those small, rundown and indirect road linking to desaru. But with the newly constructed Senai-Desaru expressway, only take me half an hour to reach there, super fast and direct, thumbs up JB !

d) The improvement to Taman Perling interchange provide direct link for travelling between Jalan skudai both directions, pasir gudang highway and perling road which reduce the hassle to look for U-turn.

e) One of the most important expressway is Jalan sungei danga - kota iskandar expressway. Before this highway was constructed, travelling from JB town to Bukit Indah area becomes very tedious and long as it needs to go to taman perling first before heading down to bukit indah.

After the Jalan sungei danga - kota iskandar expressway has been built, it provided a direct link from JB town via jalan tun abdul razak directly to Bukit Indah, saving all the hassle and time travelling to there.

Re: Driving directions & travelling info to the cheong places in JB

After immigration clearance, there are 2 routes which your vehicle can proceed.

Must quickly decide because the distance is very close.

Turn left will lead to Pasir Gudang, Kota Tinggi or KL via the EDL expressway. There is a big green sign that shows the direction.

Turn right will lead to Bandaraya (city), skudai and stulang (the zon). There is a blue sign that shows the direction.

If your vehicle chose to turn right, after having travel for some distance, there will be 3 more routes for you to take.

On the left route is going to JB sentral.

On the centre route leads to bandaraya (city square), jalan tebrau and skudai

On the right route is travelling to jalan stulang laut (the zon)

If you take the centre route, your vehicle will enter the inner ring road (jalan lingkaran dalam). As you travel along this road, you will pass by shell station. After that, there are 2 ways to proceed.

If you go straight up the flyover, it will lead you to jalan tun abdul razak which will take you to jalan skudai.

If you keep left on the ground road, there are further 2 ways to proceed.

Turn right, you will reach Jalan Tebrau that goes to the kota tinggi direction.

Turn left, you will proceed to Jalan Tebrau that goes to the city square direction.

After having known the initial route from the CIQ complex, you will be able to travel to your desire cheong destinations with ease.

As your vehicle leave the CIQ complex and enter the inner ring road (jalan lingkaran dalam) and pass by shell station, keep to the left on the ground road, and there will be a traffic light under the flyover. Then turn right, you will enter Jalan Tebrau that goes to kota tinggi or north direction.

Go straight pass hotel selasa and keep to the right till a traffic light junction. After that turn right to jalan kuning where you will pass RHB bank of plaza pelangi. Continue to go straight until you see hong leong bank on your right and at the traffic light junction turn right into jalan sri pelangi.

Travel about another 200m will pass by golden court hotel and on your right is the Onlyone mp (rite at the end of jln sri pelangi)

The route that I have just mentioned is the shortest possible route.

Help needed
Saigon massage spa mp is beside Nissan car showroom.

The address is at Jalan Perisai, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80500 Johor Bahru.

If you are driving along jalan tebrau from custom, keep to the right lane and as you reach the traffic light junction near crystal crown hotel, turn right to jalan keris.

Travel another 50m before reaching restoran new lucky or 大马巴刹 turn left to jalan keris 1 and continue to travel straight.

As you are approaching Big Apple KTV, you will notice that there is a big canal around the area. Turn left to jalan perisal and will pass by Bangkok spa before reaching Saigon Massage.

(Jalan Perisal is a one way street)

Alternatively can also access jalan perisal from taman sentosa via jalan sutera 1 and after the road bridge across the canal, turn right to jalan perisal.

mp81 is at Bukit Indah jalan bestari 6/2 beside the restoran ayam penyet house. It is also very near to paris spa.

After leaving the CIQ complex and enter the inner ring road (jalan lingkaran dalam) and then pass by the shell station. After that, go straight up the flyover and will lead you to jalan tun abdul razak.

Travel all the way to the end of jalan tun abdul razak.

At this point, you have to decide carefully as this interchange have many branch road and can be very confusing.

Do not keep right and go up the flyover as it will direct you to jalan skudai in the north direction towards senai.

Instead keep left and continue on the ground road.

As you travel another 30m, there are 2 ways to go.

Turn left will go to jalan skudai that goes back to bandaraya which you should not take.

You should continue to go straight and follow the signboard that states kota iskandar or nusajaya as bukit indah is near to these places. After that you will enter the Jalan sungei danga - kota iskandar expressway (The highway bridge across many rivers area) and finally will lead you to lebuhraya sultan iskandar.

As you travel along this expressway for some distance, you will notice that there is another flyover that goes to kota iskandar, do not go up the flyover but keep left on the ground road.

After that turn right to jalan pesisiran perling 2 which is the MAIN ROAD OF BUKIT INDAH...

Continue to travel straight until you see the chef wah restaurant shophouse on your right and then make a RIGHT TURN into the small road.

Now you are travelling in the commercial estate road until you see Alliance bank and turn right again.

MP81 is right at the end of the small road (same row as alliance bank)..

Driving to mount austin from custom

There are two routes that you can take to reach mount austin.

But would recommend to use the EDL highway route instead of the Jalan Tebrau route.

After immigration clearance, turn left and enter the EDL expressway. There is a big green sign that shows the direction.

Continue to travel straight in the highway for about 8km until you see the pandan interchange.

At this point you have to be careful, there are two exits.

The first exit is to jalan tebrau going to the city bandaraya direction. Do not take this exit. As you continue straight further for another 100m, you will see the second exit.

The second exit is to jalan tebrau going to ulu tiram/kota tinggi direction, exit from there by making a roundabout turn to jalan pandan.

After that continue to travel straight for another 4km which will pass by the jalan pandan - pasir gudang highway interchange flyover.

As your vehicle is decending at the flyover, keep to the left lane.

After that as your vehicle is approachng the mount austin ramp, make a left turn and you will arrive at jalan mutiara emas utama.(MAIN ROAD OF MOUNT AUSTIN)

Along this stretch of road, there are many nasi lemak joints at those shophouses to be explored...

After immigration clearance, turn right.

There is a blue sign that shows the direction that will lead to Stulang (the zon).

After having travel for some distance, there will be 3 more routes for you to decide:

The left route will take you to JB sentral.

The centre route leads to bandaraya (city square), jalan tebrau and skudai

The right route will take you to jalan stulang laut (the zon)

Take the right route by turning right to the inner ring road going to the south direction. You will pass by MSC Cybersport Tower and continue straight until you see "city of dream" building, turn left to Jalan Ibrahim Sultan.

Jalan Ibrahim Sultan is the coastal road all the way to the Zon which you can see Singapore at the other side.

Continue to go straight along this road for about 1km where you will pass the famous new hong kong restaurant, foon yew high school, de'stulang blue building.

Finally you will reach the openspace carpark of the Zon near the duty free shop where you can park your car.

After that you may jalan kaki to hotel Zon and visit the famous NZ spa with plenty of local girls at level 7 or patronise the cheaper prc/viet streetwalker around 2nd-5th floor.

As most of the shophouse massage (mp) only opens around noon time, very few opens in the morning.

Think the earliest you can go massage is in hotel health centre.

Would recommend bluewave hotel health centre as it has one of the most local girls for massage or sex.

It opens at 10am in the morning and there are some massage girls and package girls who report for work at around 10 plus.

Amansari spa no doubt got more selection but the large number of girls only starts working after 2pm.

Re: Driving directions & travelling info to the cheong places in JB

Malaysia is implementing the new vehicle entry fee VEP of 20 ringgit for spore vehicles travelling through Johor on 1 October 2015.

Spore has also express their concern and will consider matching the levy in some form after studying its implementation.

Currently spore is charging sing dollar $35 for msia car entering spore per day.

However the charge of rm20 to spore car will have little effect on the number of spore cars entering Malaysia because of the recent devaluation of the ringgit.

Spore cars entering Malaysia will most likely buy lots of grocery, pump petrol, dining at restaurant to take advantage of the high exchange rate.

Therefore the saving that sporean driver can enjoy is very much higher than the 20 ringgit Msia VEP that he has to pay.
