Cryptocurrencies are not worth ANYTHING.

Whatever their worth is is basically snake-oil logic made up by people who know how to market, and idiots who don't know better to recognise another "get rich quick" scheme at first sight.

Cryptocurrencies are not backed by anything of physical value. No gold, no government bond, no nothing. It's just a huge speculation bubble and at the end of the day it is those who started them up first that stand to earn the big bucks, from every other small two-bit investor who gets burnt in the process when they cannot keep up with the fluctuating trends.

Why would I want to invest in something that can rise and drop more than 20% in value overnight? It's no better than gambling at a casino or buying 4D.
