Sam Leong will use this news to conclude that there is no poor in Singapore and the poor in Singapore are actually free-loader.

I want to ask all the brothers and sisters and transvestites here how to help poor people and at the same time getting rid of freeloader in Singapore.

With a combined weight of 385kg, the family of three were weighed down by obesity.

Not any more.

When doctors gave them an ultimatum to lose weight for the sake of their health, Mr Samat Said, 65, his wife, Madam Salmah Ahmad, 59, and daughter Sakdah Samat, 35, decided to go for bariatric surgery.

The weight-loss surgical procedure has caused them to eat much less now and they have each lost more than 30kg to date.

And their health has improved.

Dr Jaideepraj Rao from Tan Tock Seng Hospital, who operated on the family, said bariatric surgery is commonly mistaken for cosmetic surgery when it is a metabolic surgery meant to cure or treat medical conditions.
