Talking Re: Bangkok Apartment Rental

Hello,

I'm also looking for an apartments mostly in Rachada area with 20,000B/month rent. My priority is security, clean, fairly new, quiet, safe and near MRT. Oriental Suite, located on Soi 7 Rachada seemed nice place to live. Their rent for one bedroom apartment is 20,000B/month if you sign one year agreement.

I will be retiring in Bangkok, January, 2010. It's far away from now but I hate to procrastinate so I started to web search now. I've heard from friends in Bangkok that within couple of years, condo and apartment rental prices will drop drastically due to over supply! Why don't we help each other and assist in finding a nice apartment to rent.

renting thai apartments normally have a contract term of minimum 3months, unless u stay in svced apartments/hotels.

cheapest for a 1 month only stay i would say it can be around 6000 at its cheapest to 12k (hotel)

Re: Bangkok Apartment Rental

I don't know, Thai friends keep telling me if I'm going to be paying upwards of 20k a month for rent, I might as well buy an apartment, since monthly installments are probably less.

So might be prudent to shop around for an apartment you'll really like staying at.

Re: Bangkok Apartment Rental

dont forget the deposit, which takes up most of that 20k you are paying for that month.

the monthly rent could be 5k, but add 10k as deposit, 100thb for key, and the other 5k for buying ur room facilities (very little liao if u are staying only 1 month) because these apartments come in EMPTY.

wahllah, 20k for the 1st month .

that;s why it's not even recommanded to even rent 1 apartment for a month's stay. might as well look for a service aprtment or some cheapo hotel and rent it daily for a month.

Bangkok Car Rental

Don't know where to post this and don't want to start new thread so I'll post here:

For any BKK lau-jiaos who have rented a car and driven in BKK before - which rental agencies would you recommend? I checked Budget and Avis but expensive and require holding funds of approx. THB 40,000 on credit card!!

Thanks in advance.

If I want to find a place to retire in Thailand, bangkok will not be the place. I will find a small province town without the traffic jams, and that would be what I call Retirement.

Maybe you can take a trip down to places like Cha-Am, Hua Hin, Phuket, Krabi, of course not ask you to live a lifestyle like an Ang Moh, but the local thais stay in quiet nice locations. And with your range of 20K a month, you can get a nice nice place better than to stay in Bangkok as retirement home.

You can rent cheap but there is no guarantee that there will be car insurance in place

Once in a while pop over to Sin City of Thailand (Bangkok) and then pop back to the peace and quietness in provinces.

Retirement is the key here which means to enjoy and relax. I don't see how staying in Bangkok facing so much traffic jams can really enjoy and relax. The fumes, the pace, the people you see around in BKK, can shorten life by a few years.
