Barcelona fought back to secure a barnstorming 4-3 win at Villarreal on Sunday, with last year's LaLiga top scorer Robert Lewandowski bagging the winner late in the second half.

Barca took an early two-goal lead after Gavi and Frenkie De Jong scored within two minutes of each other, but the hosts recovered with first-half goals by Juan Foyth and Alexander Sorloth, and from Alex Baena five minutes after the break.

Robert Lewandowski's late penalty earned Barcelona a hard-fought 2-1 win at Osasuna on Sunday as the defending LaLiga champions secured their third consecutive victory after starting the season with a goalless draw at Getafe.

Barcelona took the lead with a Jules Koundé header from a corner by Ilkay Gundogan in added-time before the break, but Chimy Ávila equalised in the 76th minute by unleashing an unstoppable curling shot from the edge of the box which flew into the back of the net off the right post.

But five minutes later, right after new-recruits João Cancelo and João Félix came off the bench to make their debuts, Barca were awarded a penalty when Alejandro Catena grabbed Lewandowski's right arm inside the box.

Barcelona 5 - 0 Real Betis : Félix, Cancelo score first Barca goals in 5-0 rout of Betis

João Félix and João Cancelo scored after making their first starts for Barcelona in a 5-0 rout of Real Betis in the Spanish league on Saturday.

The pair of Portugal internationals made their debuts last round for Barcelona as substitutes two days after they joined the defending champions on loan just hours before the summer transfer window closed.

Félix scored in the 25th minute and then cleverly let a pass run between his legs in the area that Robert Lewandowski fired home to double the lead in the 32nd.

Ferran Torres, who also made his first start of the season, added a third goal in the 62nd when he sent a free kick curling around the edge of the defensive wall and beyond the reach of goalkeeper Rui Silva.

It was the first free-kick goal for Barcelona since Lionel Messi found the net in May 2021.

Raphinha, after going on to replace Torres, scored from just outside the area in the 66th. Cancelo topped the victory in the 81st with a great solo effort after he cut back twice to ditch his marker and beat Silva from an angle.

Robert Lewandowski scored a quickfire double before João Cancelo sealed a last-gasp 3-2 win for Barcelona over Celta Vigo in a LaLiga clash at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Saturday.

Barcelona, fresh off successive 5-0 wins over Antwerp and Real Betis, started well but it was Celta who had the first real opportunity of the match, with Iago Aspas drawing a sharp save from Marc-André ter Stegen.

Barcelona twice fought back to secure a 2-2 draw at Mallorca on Tuesday, maintaining their unbeaten start to the LaLiga season, and might have had more if a penalty given to teenager Lamine Yamal hadn't been overturned by VAR.

The hosts' early pressure paid off as they took the lead after eight minutes when Vedat Muriqi capitalised on a poor clearance from Barca's keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Raphinha grabbed an equaliser with a powerful shot into the bottom left corner in the 41st minute, only to see Abdon Prats restore Mallorca's lead in stoppage time with a simple finish after keeper Predrag Rajkovic's superb long clearance and a Muriqi header.

Shortly before that, Yamal was tripped in the box while charging toward goal, but after initially pointing to the spot for a penalty, the referee checked the play on the pitchside monitor and determined that there had been no contact by the defender and waved off the penalty.
