Bro YourExcellency, don't be bothered by any negative comments. Your intentions to share your experience is greatly appreciated.

I'm usually lazy to log on, but do follow your thread as closely as i can.

Your command of english is very very good, and what i like about reading your thread is the many other little descriptions of the environment, the build up, the non-sexual things that seems to complete the story. Of course, the sex bits are very welcome too.

Keep it up please and thank you!

Bro StillLearning, your dedication to your spouse must have been one interesting life..at least that is how I felt. The feeling must be damn nice to look into the green eyes of a blonde.

You can search my thread which I've started a few, long ago and you can read them. You'll find that I don't request to see the reponse as I just post and post as much as I can.

If everyone can post their stories fast and finished it with lesser pages then those who found and read them would also be easier especially if they're browsing with their handphone.

I've read many thread and most of them I'll only post 1 comment so as to be able to come back with ease of tracing and I'll continue to read without posting more comment unless necessary. Just check on the numbers of viewers and you'd know how many readers you've got..

From time to time, people need the extra appreciation to feel inspired. This is much like, a teacher, nurse or social worker. I think it is fair the TS seeks "a couple sacks of sandbags" from time to time, just to know that even when there's a flood (external circumstances), it won't deter him from staying.

Besides, he has clearly stated the points aren't his perogative. We can see how some of the other authors blatantly ask for them after EACH of their posts. Not to pass judgment but comparatively, TS' style sits well with me.

I'm sure thomas88 meant well too - he may be concerned if the TS would end up being one of the "points-seekers". Clearly, he must be an avid reader, for his suggestion was to enhance his viewing pleasure by keeping other "unnecessary" posts at bay.

Both of you guys have tried to make sure this thread stays enjoyable. We should toast to that.
Wow... that is so well said by whoever said that I was not able to put into words how I felt but that simply sounds perfect in my situation! Yes it is boring, even though it is a good venting tool, but it is akin to holding a monologue... talking and talking about your life stories and nobody to give a response, no matter how short it is...

Honestly I wished I was confident enough to just keep blabbing about my life and not give a hoot about what others thought about it, but at the end of the day, that is what separates a good story-teller from a lousy one. Unfortunately I belong to the latter, as can be seen from my lousy presentations at work

I too understand the irritation of having to scroll through several pages just to complete reading a story, but hey, thats part and parcel of reading on a forum isnt it?

cheers gigigagago!

Your various posts in your The Scent of a Woman were more than interesting for me, because I spent some time before lunch and after lunch on Nov 8, 2010 to read it all.

I believe that you are meticulous enough to proof read and edit your posts. Based on your writing, it appears that you are a well educated (having a degree or degrees do not imply that an individual is educated) professional. Your effort, choice of diction, style, continuity, plot, as reflected in your posts indicate that you did spend the time to ensure that it is your best effort, regardless of the allegations against you.

Other than [B52bomber] captivating "Room at the Top of the Stair (sic)", your story as reflected in this forum, surely must rank in the Top 3, not just how you introduce it, slow build up, non-sexual to a little romance to more sexually explicit, but the suspense and intrigue, as well as the diction and style, with very few and minor "English" mistakes, in my humble opinion, is near the Top.

Although I dislike studying English (or English Literature to some people) when I was a student (more interested in Economics and Law at that time), as I grow older, I appreciate the opportunity to learn and study the poets of the Romantic Era (John Keats, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Shelley, etc.), Shakespeare, and a fortiori, "critical appreciation" [taught by a Czech by birth]. Unfortunately, my work and career is overwhelmed by legalese, but I still do write good reports and correspondences. Rest assured, I have a Chartered Accountant friend who won a silver medal when he wrote the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' Uniform Final Exams, but major in English.

Unfortunately, my life is not as interesting and colourful as many of you guys, dedicated to one tall blonde hair green eye spouse, and have no story to post.

Sincerely,
[Still Learning]
who have spent more time in The True North, Strong and Free
than in Singapore
I spent a major part of my life in the true north too

English was not my major either and I find it extremely boring... who wants to read Margaret Atwood?!?!? I hated even humanities courses and never did well in those... I was always more of a Science student even though I am more adept to business. sigh, thats life for you...

I do not think my life is particularly interesting or colorful, in fact I think its a little too bland. However I have had the opportunity to meet a few interesting people along the way that somehow spiced it up a little. Right now I feel like I am a little dinghy floating in the sea, belonging to neither here nor there.

Sigh... cest la vie.

Thanks for your reply. To me, details are everything, otherwise most stories can be written as, "I came, I saw, I conquered."

Bonjour Monsieur,

Which part of The True North, Strong and Free, were you in?
If you claimed that your life is a little too bland, then mine must be empty in terms of variety.
May I suggest that you look at and enjoy the good life at home, and cast away your apparent dinghy floating in the sea.

A good loving and caring wife is better than all the spicy mermaids.

Cheers, [YourExcellency]

Re: The Scent of a Woman

Shenzhen
Before long, we had reached the exit for the Eastern Overseas Chinese City (東部華僑城) and I drove towards the foot of the Wutong Mountain (梧桐山). Our ascend up the mountain was nice and cool and I opened the sunroof and wound down the windows. We soon arrived at the clubhouse and when Liz emerged from the car, a manager in a suit walked up to us.

Manager: “鄭小姐, 你好!好耐無見!棍已經幫你準備好了!
Liz: “真系唔該逝!這位系Leo生, Leo, this is Brian!”

I accepted his clubs after thanking him and he arranged lockers for us. We changed our shoes and within minutes we were already in our buggies, with two caddies in tow. As we wanted to have more privacy to ourselves, we asked the two caddies to take one cart, while we took the other.

At our first hole, I inspected Brian’s clubs for the first time. His clubs were very suitable for me. He used ‘Fourteen’ irons and Maruman woods, Taylor Made rescue clubs, Cleveland wedges and a double ball Oddysey putter, very similar to what I usually use. I chose to tee off from the white tee box and Liz from the ladies’ tee box. I teed off with a rescue club, not wanting to screw up my first hole, it was a par 3, and landed just 20 yards from the green. Liz teed next, and her ball landed about 15 yards from the flag!

Me: “Wow, looks like I am going to have tough competition today!”
Liz: “Lucky shot!”

We ended the hole with Liz having a birdie and me a par, and we happily proceeded on. Liz was a good golfer, and she played well that day. I was a little rusty, due to my heavy workload but I still managed to have a few pars but no bogies. I had played at this course before, and it was very beautiful albeit a little too tough. This is a killer course with beautiful scenery for any brothers who are interested in extremely challenging courses. For many of the holes, you would tee off from one hill, between the hole and the tee-box were usually valleys and the rough was extremely overgrown. You would drive your cart along the winding routes and weave through the course, going from hill to hill, hole to hole.

The game ended with Liz hitting 98 and me 105, all thanks to two water hazards. We got showered and changed into a fresh set of clothes and settled down at the café for a drink before leaving. Liz was a member so she paid for the day’s game. We relaxed at the café, sipping ice tea as we enjoyed the cool clean mountain breeze. It was one of the best feelings in the world.

Liz: “Dinner?”
Me: “Sure! Where?”
Liz: “You know this place well, why don’t you decide? I can decide when we’re in Hong Kong!”

I chose a place I knew well, a seafood street in Yantian (鹽田). Some brothers may have been there, its quite popular in Shenzhen, similar to Singapore’s UDMC seafood centre or even more like the old Punggol seafood. There are at least 6-7 big seafood restaurants congregated there, with large tanks displayed prominently outside them, touting the best freshest seafood available. By the time we got there, it was already past 6pm and seats were filling up fast. I drove to the one I usually frequented, and we held hands and occasionally kissed as we happily ordered whatever caught our fancy.

In the end, we had over-ordered. We had 2 different kinds of fish, one steamed and another pan-fried, fresh boiled shrimp, fan scallops, salted crayfish, fresh cockles, oysters, kailan and choi sum. Everything was delicious and we tucked in heartily till we could not fill our stomachs with another morsel of seafood. We had Zhujiang beer to wash down the seafood and we felt truly satisfied. The bill came up to RMB800, which was an excellent deal for so much food. We left the restaurant feeling really full and in need of a stroll. We went further eastwards, back towards the seaside, and took a long slow walk along the beach. I was in love and so was Liz. I sighed as we strolled along the beach, not wanting the feeling to go away.

Liz: “Do you want to stay the night in Shenzhen or do you want to go back to Hong Kong?”
Me: “Actually I was wondering that same question! Why don’t we stay here for the night since its Saturday? We can always go back tomorrow!”
Liz: “Let’s do that! Where shall we stay?
Me: “I know just the place!

We got into the car and I drove towards Luohu, to a place I knew well – Queen’s Spa (皇室假期) at Xiangxi Village (向西村). It was as usual, busy with the weekend traffic of Hong Kongers traveling over to Shenzhen to enjoy the cheaper services. We checked in and soon I was in the men’s shower room taking my time cleaning myself, reveling in the wonderful sensations of the hot water hitting against my body.

I took a seat at the waiting area, or as the Chinese liked to call it, the resting area. It was basically a large lounge where you could get foot massages and other services like getting your ears cleaned and dead skin on your feet removed. I took a seat in one of the numerous oversized arm chairs and waited for Liz to finish her shower. She emerged form the ladies’ shower room wearing a pink robe over a matching pink top and loose cotton shorts, standard issue for ladies. We sat down and ordered a foot massage each. The massage was very relaxing and by the time we were done, we were both almost dozing off. We chose instead to proceed upstairs for a body massage. We opted for a private room, away from the main walkways. The masseuses were pretty good, and kneaded away our sores and pains, leaving us feeling really relaxed and unable to move. We rested for little while before we left the room and we were ushered downstairs to the sleeping area. For brothers who have not been there, it is a very special experience. The sleeping areas for men and women are separated, and it consisted of many cubicles (approx. 1m x 1m x 2m) stacked on top of each other, with a sliding door at the entrance. After registration, you would climb into your cocoon-like cubicle and inside it was very cozy and quiet. There was a quilt in case you felt cold but I opted out.

I slept like a log, tired out from the day’s golf and the previous night’s activities ☺

Less than 200 km away from the border with sub zero temperatures till end of Feb that should be a major hint Time flies, when I first left, I was a boy, and when I came back, I was an 'uncle'

Hi thomas88,

You must be in a much more fortunate position than me, you must be not be in a room with nobody to talk to except the four walls surrounding you. I am tired from work during the day and entertainment in the evenings. I have been away from home for more than a month now and it is wearing me a little thin... think of it as maybe I seek the responses as a distraction from my homesickness Will check out your threads when I am good and sober :P

cheers!

Where we are (with the lakeshore on one of the great lakes), there is sub zero temperature in Nov to Mar, although there are day time high of 9, such as today. If only the winter here is from Dec to Mar, it will be more tolerable. Over here, we can get minus 20 C and minus 30 or lower with wind chill. I better not digress, so that you can concentrate on your next chapter in the continuing saga of "The Scent of a Woman."

Yes lakeshore does tend to be colder.. and winters are more than a tad too long.. however a drive from east to west on lakeshore during the winter months can be extremely refreshing as you watch the waves crashing onto the breakwaters near the tennis club.. much like the works of the group of seven..
