Don't quite get your question but there is like a train every 30-50 mins from Guangzhou East to Changping Station. Just go to counter show passport and buy ticket lor.
If you not carrying heavy bags, don't take the cabs outside Changping station, they will gouge you. Walk a bit further to hail a cab or haggle a lot.

As I understand, most will be heading home 7 - 10 days before the lunar new year. I'm also heading to CP from 8 -12 January as my gal needs to head for home earlier. Otherwise, they will have difficulties getting hold of train or bus tickets.
