Wonder if any bro out there can help me here. Will be in SHA with OC early next mth to see the Expo. Will be staying at Renaissance YuYuan Hotel. Is there any outlet that provides massage with HJ thrown in at least? Would appreciate if there is one very nearby (like 5-10 mins walking distance from hotel) for a 1-2 hr massage as I can't take too long a time away fr my OC lah.

There used to be a few "barber shops" nearby ... nearer towards Henan Lu / Renmin Lu but i think most of them have since been "cleaned up". Forget about HJs when you get full package in China!

If you think our consulate can help you wriggle out of it, I think you're overestimating what they can/are willing to do. Sorry, but that's my honest opinion.

You should go to the Visa Department at Minsheng Road, Pudong, with all the requisite supporting documents and complete the Visa Extension Application Form. Take a q no. at the 3rd storey and then go to a counter at the 2nd storey where overstayers plead their case to the officer in charge.

Be humble, confess your mistake and generally act like you fear being sent to the firing squad for your inadvertence. Ok, kidding - but you get the picture.

The officer will be haughty but he'll put an official stamp on your application form (which allows you to submit your application for extension) and tell you not to repeat the mistake again. You thank him profusely and then proceed back to the 3rd storey to wait your turn to submit your application form. Your problem would then have been solved.

It happened to me once when I really forgot to renew my visa which had, by the time I went to plead my case, expired for almost a month. I do have the contacts to "help" resolve the matter but would have to pay some "fee" and after all that, still owe the contact a favour. Why go through all that when all I did was as described above and solved everything on my own?

Nope. I don't think the consulate can help out much really but it might help ease your mind when they tell you of your procedures rather than hear about it on a forum =)

Service at 畅安阁 doesn't include any real massage - I'm sure you know that by now. i totally agreed with bro Bund ... i am not sure abt the SHG consulate but for my past experience with the GZ consulate, it is a total waste of time ..

Actually, to be fair, I wouldn't blame the individuals personally. These civil servants are posted to a specific location for a period of 2 years, with a possibility of a 2-year extension in exceptional cases.

And they're usually rather young, academically proficient types.

There were at least 2 occasions when I had to explain to them why a particular thing could be done when they said it couldn't be done. To their credit, they accepted my explanations and complied on both occasions.

Sometimes we need to help them to help ourselves.
