Re: Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
Hi bros.
FIELD REPORT I live in HCMC, decided to go to P.P for the weekend. Airfare is expensive because Vietnam airlines has monopoly. Took Mekong Express bus for $13, think it's 6 hr bus ride, not too bad. First night I stayed at Flamingo hotel for $25 a night. Very good location, walking distance to Heart of Darkness, Pontoon, etc. However the rooms were very, very dirty. I do not recommend. First night Friday, Heart of Darkness was empty. Then we went to Pontoon's. It was a very big club. WATCH OUT FOR THE LADYBOYS. Last year I lived in Bangkok for one year so it's pretty easy for me to spot them. The ones in P.P. look VERY much like ladys so be very careful bros. I found a Cambodian girl. Negotiated for $30. Next day did some sightseeing. Killing fields and Royal palace. If you want go anywhere you can take Tuk Tuk. They all say $3 for short distance. Say $2 and if they don't accept, walk away. They will take the $2 ;-). Went to "Sakura hotel" I think. They show you a book with maybe 30 pics of girls. The room was VERY dirty. Massage was shit, basically rubbed oil on me. When it came time to negotiate, it was horrible. She wanted $50 for a handjob? We negotiate for maybe 10 minutes, was such a turnoff. In the end I got handjob for $10 because I got up and said I don't need anything. I am not a cheap guy, but I don't want to raise the prices for everyone. Next day we went to CASA hotel because Flamingo's so dirty. Casa hotel is VERY VERY good. $40 a night. Big room and clean. ALso next to KTV and disco. That night we went to Nagaworld. I gambled a bit and won money. Saw a lot of freelancers walking around. Went to Darlin Darling around 9:30pm, not too many ppl there. Just maybe 3 hostess against the wall. We decided to go to CASA KTV. We got a bottle of Johnny Walker. Mamasan brings in maybe 20 girls into the room. I think maybe 90% of the girls were Vietnamese. This was first time in my life going to a KTV. I didn't like how there was no privacy. Every 2 minutes someone come in. A man, different bartenders, etc. I guess they do it so in the end they can get tip. But it was quite annoying. Took the girl back. $100. She stayed all night, was quite good. Next day my friend went home. I stayed in my hotel room and worked :-). Nightime i go to Martini's by myself. Vietnamese girl came to me. I told her I'm not interested in Vietnamese girl because I live in Vietnam! She brought over a very cute Cambodian girl for me. $40 short time, I gave the viet girl $5 tip for introducing. Anyways I hope you benefit from my informations bros. I don't think I will return to Cambodia anytime soon. |

Re: Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
Yes their first listing is the Water Authority, went up about 50% on first day but subsequently softer. Tried to ask for the IPO but very difficult la, seem only the privileged can get. They tied up with the Korean exchange.
Only 1 listing so far, 2 on the way. But being new, still have a lot of hiccups. Will be interesting in the future when all are tested and settled |

New luxury bus to service HCM City- Phnom Penh
Tuesday, 22 May 2012 By NNT HCM City , May 21 (VNA) — A luxury bus service between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh has started in HCM City as a private-public co-operation effort to have more Vietnamese tourists visit Cambodia . The service was launched on May 18 by the Cambodian Tourism Ministry and NagaWorld Group. "This is one more effort to strengthen the good relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia in tourism sector," said Thong Khon, Cambodia 's Tourism Minister. By opening a representative office in HCM City and a fleet of 20 28-seat luxury buses (video, massage seats, toilets) at a cost of 3 million USD, NagaWorld will provides six trips a day from HCM City to Phnom Penh and back. In the future, the company will expand the bus service to two other Cambodian destinations, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. NagaWorld also launched a three day-two night Free&Easy Tour for just 125 USD a person, which includes luxury bus transportation from HCM City and back, accommodation at the five-star NagaWorld Hotel in Phnom Penh, six meals and a half-day city tour. In 2011, Vietnam ranked first in terms of the number of tourists visiting Cambodia at 600,000, or 21 percent of all international visitors. In the first quarter of this year, 179,000 Vietnamese visited Cambodia a year-on-year increase of 18 percent. "The service will also contribute to increasing the number of Cambodians visiting Vietnam for tourism, education and healthcare," said Nguyen Thi Hong, vice-chairwoman of the HCM City People's Committee. It is estimated that the number of Cambodians visiting Vietnam has increased by 30 percent annually over the last several years. Vietnam and Cambodia now have eight border checkpoints on land and two on water. The two nations have reached a cross-border transportation agreement under which 19 companies are operating 39 trips with 300 buses that travel to and from HCM City to Phnom Penh every day. |
