Police posing as sex procurers arrested a suspected Singporean paedophile at a Bangkok hotel yesterday after he had allegedly agreed to buy the service of a 16-year-old boy for US$200.

Darwis Rianto Lim, 31, a science teacher at a famous Singapore school, allegedly posted on the Internet he wanted to buy sex from a boy aged between 12-16 when he arrived in Bangkok on Sunday.

Three boys were taken to the hotel yesterday and Mr Lim allegedly picked a 16-year-old, paid the police, masquerading as sex agents, US$200, and was arrested.

He was charged with taking an under-18 for molestation, which was punishable by five years in jail and a 10,000 baht fine.
