Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

1b? The greedy Yanks must be out of their minds.

A good win today ahead of a difficult week. We weren't at our best and could have leaked a goal or two, Ayala's defending worries me.

But kudos I must say to AA and Maxi who played really well, and Babel who was thrust into the striker's position when Kuyt finally picked up an injury. AA showed some neat touches (and also a few bad passes) and I'm really happy Maxi's got a nice goal and also laid the ball for AA which led to Gerrard's second. Glad too for Lucas who slipped the pass to Babel - 4 much aligned players who did good today, the stars must be shinning over Anfield.

we're definitely not at our best...

good win thou, burnley wasn't easy at their home ground... i guess rafa again surprised everybody with the inclusion of ayala... but i think tis is the way to slowly give youngster a chance to gain some experience and oso give the pair of old legs of kgyro a rest...

AA is starting to show ppl why he is so highly rated in italy, althou he still tends to give away some lousy passes... very good pass to maxi for his goal... maxi is always a quality player... hope to see more of those nice 1-2 passes btw gerrard, kyut, maxi n AA...

2nd goal is type of goal gerrard scores when he's at his best... still not convinced by babel, even in the role of striker...

i was hoping to see pacheco to come on much earlier... he showed some nice touches and awareness to spray passes... but guess he still need more playing time to toughen himself up and not to be brushed aside and lose the ball so easily...

looking forwards to madrid match and cheski match tis wkend...

yup, good to start to blood in some youngsters, recall there's still El Zhar and Damien plessis, correctly nurture and blend them in with the seniors in no time they will be able to provide stiff competitions for the starting XI.

hope also the would-be new investors gather their pace for the buy-out, with enuff time and $$ to buy quality players and prepare for the next season.

My only concern with Maxi is next season, he will play both in Europe and in the league. Can his legs take it? Again, with Riera leaving and Babel inconsistent really shows how thin our squad is. There is Yossi but he's not a true winger. It's the left side as a whole, with Aurelio not safe for moving about and Dossena gone.

our squad is indeed super thin...

with riera & aurelio leaving in summer, and maybe babel (to raise fund )... we're definitely short-handed in the left side, both midfielder and defender... oso never heard any young left sider player coming up too (was surprise we sold the promising young german LB/LM, Christopher Buchtmann to fulham in jan)...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

well... we are getting Jonjo Shelvey from charlton for about 2M (snatched from the noses of chelsea, man city and arsenal). Think rafa is thinking that he's our replacement for gerrard when he retires. Young, dynamic and gets goals from the midfield area. Oh.. he can also play the 2nd striker role.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

what Liverpool needs is a new owner with lots of cash to spare,so that they can go and buy a player or two for each position. Cos depend on a single striker is NO good. Look when Torres is injured,so difficult to get goals.

These next few days will determine whether our season is just a disappointing one with a consolation prize, a disappointing one with two consolation prizes, or a downright devastating one.

Really hope we can beat Chelsea but somehow not help the Scum win no 19.

how i wish the following scenario plays out this weekend, we can beat chelski and the scums end up drawing sunderland, then it is down to the wire for both of them...and hopefully chelski pipped the scums to it...not that i like them but hell better then the scums winning the title a record 19 times and fourth in a row...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Don't get your hopes high up guys. It's almost criminal that tabloids can print what they like just to generate sales:

+++++++++++++

Huang plays down Liverpool interest

Kenneth Huang, reportedly at the centre of a proposed takeover of Liverpool, has played down links with the Premier League club.

Reports at the weekend suggested Huang, described as a former Wall Street stockbroker, was leading a consortium who were in advanced negotiations to buy the Merseysiders for £500million.

Co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett officially put the club up for sale just over a week ago, having admitted someone else needed to take it to the next level.

However, a statement released on behalf of Huang has distanced the China-based businessman from the claims.

"Mr Huang would like to clarify that he did not speak with the newspaper and did not make the statements attributed to him," said the statement.

"Mr Huang would not make any comment in relation to Liverpool FC."

Just over a week ago Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon claimed an unnamed Chinese investor was interested in taking over the club and had already spoken to the manager about keeping him on next season.

Benitez subsequently denied Quilon's claims.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Our fantastic man between the sticks has been ignored again...and nobody seems to give any credit to Rafa for bringing great players like him and Torres in and developing them further.

From official LFC website:

Ian Rush believes Pepe Reina was a glaring omission from the PFA Barclays Premier League team of the season.

The Reds stopper has enjoyed a superb campaign for Liverpool and is once again in contention for the Golden Glove award.

However, Birmingham City's on-loan 'keeper Joe Hart was named as the topflight's choice for best No.1 this term - a decision that has left Rush stunned.

"Without doubt Pepe should have been in the team," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "Hart's had a good season but when you watch Pepe Reina play you can see that he is an incredible stopper.

"I can't understand how he doesn't get a game for Spain. Casillas must be one hell of a goalkeeper to keep Reina out.

"He has been fantastic and has really grown in confidence over the years.

"He must have had three or four assists for some of our goals this season and that's one of the main things I like about him. His distribution on the counter attack; it's like having another outfield player.

"There are probably games where Liverpool have gone on to win and Torres or Gerrard have taken the credit, but there are five or six occasions that I can think of where he has made an important save to change a game in our favour.

"I can't understand how he isn't in the PFA team. When you look at Liverpool's player of the year, he's definitely in the top three, if not a worthy winner."

Reina kept another shut-out as Liverpool improved their outside chances of landing fourth place with a 4-0 win at Burnley on Sunday.

Rush feels the emphatic nature of the triumph will give the Reds the perfect lift ahead of crucial matches against Atletico Madrid and Chelsea.

"Any 4-0 win away from home is a good result," he said. "We'd have taken that at the start and I think in the second half the difference in class between the two sides was clear.

"Liverpool created chances and they took them with aplomb. The class of Steven Gerrard was telling in the end and his second goal was fantastic.

"We are expected to win there but it's a great result no matter who you are playing against. It sets it up nicely ahead of a crucial week of matches."
