Re: NEW ANGELES CITY (Pampanga, Balibago, Subic) PI
Just visited AC after being absent for a year,
Wish I could provide a good FR on the bars but sadly, this will have to do. Things are different now. Not many bars open. Most are still closed. And some that are open are operating on limited hours. Dont thinK many bars are coming back after the long lockdown. Mainly due to high rent from stupid landlords still demanding outrageous rent and leases. They have no business sense at all as no customers due to travel restrictions and they still want to RAISE the rent Many girls not surviving without the bars so most of the ones I know heading back to their provinces and many dont plan to return. Mainly hooked up with some of my old contacts from last year as the overall scene is very quiet. Hope all this lockdown and restrictions end soon as I do miss my AC. Sadly, by then it may be too late. PT |

Re: NEW ANGELES CITY (Pampanga, Balibago, Subic) PI
I'm in Angeles now and I had a chance to take a walk through Walking street a few days ago and I also took a long walk all the way down perimeter past horizon tower today.
Angeles doesn't look that deserted day or night. Still plenty of local people walking around like normal. The street is still filled with trikes and cars. The main difference I see is a lot less Koreans and younger tourists drinking. I saw maybe two Koreans in the past couple of days. I also saw one Singaporean (I think) with a date. I didn't say anything to him but he was in JJ's market and I heard him talk to the girl with a Singaporean accent. If you are the guy with the ponytail and you're reading this...PM me. Walking street is not even close to how it was during pre covid but not as depressing as I thought it would be. You still see some customers walking around and girls calling people in. It's just more low key now. Baccara is open. XS and Level 3 both open. Lollipop and Q bar also. I believe I saw Monsoon and shooterz open as well but i'm not 100% certain because I walked by it pretty quickly. Today on my long walk down perimeter I saw the cluster of bars near Det5 open. The old man bars Honey Ko, Touch of class, etc.. were open as well. That new hotel & bar Kona is also still open. I walked by one old timer bar called Garfield's and they had a "No Chinese allowed" sign in front. Interesting and quite racist business model. I saw a real cutie standing around in front of Det 5. There are many businesses in Angeles that did not survive Covid. Many of the secondary bars like Las Vegas, Red, etc.. are dead and my favorite day time bar "Soya" also did not survive. I picked up a freelancer online and had a good time with her. I asked her some questions about Angeles and she said that it's mostly old expats now and that many girls still have not come back from the province. Later this week I will be popping by some of the bars when I have the opportunity and do a more thorough look. The clientele you still see in Angeles are mostly the old grumpy westerner type now. So, i'm not sure what the vibe will be in some of those bars. It should be entertaining in one way or another. haha This is a historic time for Angeles. I'm not sure if it will survive or not but it is very interesting to see it right now in its current state of being. One thing about being in Angeles now is that as a foreigner you stick out much more than before. At night I saw a few groups of mid 20's filipino men just hanging out in street corners. Many look unemployed and restless. It does not feel as safe as before unfortunately. I got a few looks by some of these guys that I didn't really like at night. The place i'm staying at is normally booked at least 60% occupancy during pre-covid and I have seen maybe one or two other guests. The rest are long stay expats who seem to be leasing long term. |

It was originally operated and run by US military personnel and was a watering hole and meeting place for US special forces soldiers..... even back in those days they discourage folks from outside their military community to patronise that bar. With the withdrawal of US Forces from Subic & Clark..... they opened up a little more to accept outsiders but the majority of their clientele is still retired military personnel, special operators and security contractors. All military personnel get a 20% discount off prices. Surprisingly our SAF 11b is recognised by them and entitled to the discounts too. I dun think they exclude all chinese.... mainly referring to the PRCs whom they see as their potential enemies and adversaries in the battlefield. Filipino chinese or Singapore chinese have no problem dropping by for a drink. |

That makes sense. There were quite a few people in there drinking when I passed by. They don't have an open air bar but a front window that looks directly in. It's funny but when I passed by that specific bar before in the past (pre covid) it always seemed like it was on the verge of collapse. Never saw anyone going in or out and they always had some old special posted up front. It seems to actually be doing better during this phase of covid. If the local government here doesn't spring any new surprises on the bars then it looks like recovery may take hold. I see a lot of old regulars out drinking in front of some places even on perimeter. If they clamp down again...I think the results will be very grim. I know one girl in level 3 who said that they got an "all hands on deck" order from the management to return to Angeles. This seems to me that owners are confident that it will stick this time. |

Food and drinks are very cheap there ..... good quality and generous portions too. It seems the Singapore military hangs well with them as they acknowledge Singapore military IDs. |

just wondering if AC does not survive this pandemic and recover even as tourists come back in future, where will be the next playground that springs up?

Re: NEW ANGELES CITY (Pampanga, Balibago, Subic) PI
Leave it to the Kimchis to revive AC when the pandemic is under control. They have a ready market of mongers back home unless the local government decides to clean up AC once and for all.

Re: NEW ANGELES CITY (Pampanga, Balibago, Subic) PI
AC is not dead yet..... bars are still operating disguised as bistros.
Other than having to order some food with your drinks..... still the same inside the bars with music and skimpy ladies on stage. Sometimes can be funny when the girl dancing on stage wear a mask to cover her face but is topless and in g-string bottom. Expats and retirees are the main beneficiaries as they have no competition from overseas visitors especially the pesky kimchis & ah tiongs. Drinks are dirt cheap and barfines are so low can afford to take 2 for the price of 1.... As with all things expected in the PI..... the compulsory "quarantine" can be waived with the payment of a fee. |

I remember I ate there about a year ago and was sitting next to a group of real Vietnam vets talking to each other about the war at the bar section. It was pretty interesting. |

Re: NEW ANGELES CITY (Pampanga, Balibago, Subic) PI
I finally stopped by XS and Monsoon last night.
There were actually quite a lot of girls available and I have to say the quality is not bad...and actually if go by "percentages" the percentage of available girls who look good is higher than before. Just off the top of my head I would say that at least 50% of the girls are at least barfineable now when pre-covid sometimes it was hard to find at least one good looking girl. I noticed there were a lot less fat girls now and the attitudes were also better. I got way too drunk and spent way too much money so things are a bit hazy. I had 3 girls sitting with me at XS and all were doable. I was not expecting to barfine at all so I didn't bring enough money to BF when I was at XS. I ended up just drinking a lot and getting some free feels. It was pretty entertaining. I ran into a bouncer I knew at XS who also knew one of the girls who was my regular. He told me my regular was now back working in Monsoon. Originally this girl landed a big time American sponsor who bought her a motorcycle and was sending her lots of money every month. She was getting enough money from him that she didn't work for a long time. I was kind of surprised to see her working again because last I heard she was living in her province in Leyte. I was too drunk to remember the exact details but I ended up going to an atm and bar fining her and one other girl for a 3some. Things get hazy after that but I remember her helping me put my dick in the other girl like in a porn. My old regular is an example of how these girls lead very chaotic lives sometime. They land a sponsor..but then it doesn't work out and they end up back in the bar. She is an example of how some girls actually grow to love the bar because it is addicting and they like the excitement and attention from men. They also like getting paid to party. OF course the girls that are actually fond of the bar life are not that common. I remember from a previous conversation I had with her she actually missed the bar scene and talked about it. I have to go out a bit more to get a better idea of the Angeles bar scene in general but my initial experiences are positive so far. I feel it is more chilled out scene now. I have mixed feelings about Koreans. Sometimes I like the way they run their bars but now that the Koreans are gone it seems the average available quality is up too. Hmmm. Also, don't do what I do and get too drunk and spend a lot of money in one night and in the morning you barely remember the 3some you had. |

Because of the frequent cross-training between our guys and the US military.... the Singaporeans are accepted by the US personnel as part of their military structure as their "sub unit"..... during that same period the US military had reciprocal arrangements with Singapore with a small detachment based at Paya Lebar Airbase and a logistics depot in Sembawang to resupply their Navy ships. They take care of our guys in the PI .... and we take care of their guys here in Singapore. |
