Re: Cheapest way to call your loved ones overseas?
I use Access. It costs $8 per card and I get something like 300mins. It's also pretty easy to use, unlike the Hello card.
I tend to buy mine near Mustafa. Most of the vendors will carry it. I have looked at the Mustafa card, but their calling rates to LOS... was not on par with Access. That's why I prefer Access.

Re: Cheapest way to call your loved ones overseas?
Actually depend on the country u call.
For Vietnam, I think the Chitchat calling card is still cheapest. U can get as cheap as $8 for $10 from Boon lay shopping centre, Chinatown. |

Re: Cheapest way to call your loved ones overseas?
I pay singtel mobile $5.35 per month, and get to call China and some other countries just using the bundled talk time. No IDD charges.

Re: Cheapest way to call your loved ones overseas?
Based on my experiences, ALL calling cards, be it ICC, call-back or whatever other variation you can possibly think of, doesn't serve my specific purpose. I don't mind the hassle of topping up, even keying in a PIN number every single time I make a call, but the main bane is that all cards of such nature have terrible lag time - the voice quality is alright for most of it but the lagging just kills. I've tried everything - Hello, Phoenix, Green, and countless others, but they all suffer from the same exact problem. Most of the time me and my girlfriend's voice just overlap each other because of the lag and it's very, very irritating. We speak to each other a lot (and fairly quickly) so there's a lot of frustration when trying to talk. We both gave up eventually and are sticking to either MSN or sms now. At least it's much cheaper that way.
If any friends here can introduce me a good calling card (nevermind the cost) that has little or no lag I'll be eternally grateful. Right now I'm willing to pay premium prices for international roaming charges just to get a normal conversation going (you know, the "I've finished speaking, now it's your turn" thing) but it's really killing my wallet. |
