The same logic as why people buy branded handbag, not normal handbag even though more or less the same. Local FL: luxury good. PRC WL: inferior good. During good times, demand for local FL increases more than proportionately. During bad times, demand for PRC WL increases more than proportionately. Another factor is taste and preferences.
