Speaking of WC, was Riera anywhere close to the Spain squad when he was at Espanyol? I'm not too concerned with the content frankly. If Rafa has lost trust in a player, it is natural not to communicate with him. For other players, it is quite common not for managers to communicate with them outside of training. And Rafa has on occasions said he has spoke to this or that player. I don't think Rafa is any great communicator and he is probably aloof, but for Riera to claim Rafa has lost the dressing room is just bitterness and vengefulness. |

Here's from a guy with class, both footballing and otherwise, Dietmar Hamann:
"I can honestly say I have never had a problem with a manager in 15 years of my career and I would never blame a manager for not playing.'' Albert Riera suspended by Liverpool after Benitez attack - Barclays Premier League - ESPN Soccernet Pool vs Lille - we start. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
HT 1-1 on aggregate. We haven't done quite enough to build on the early goal, in fact missed a hatful of chances (2 headers from Agger, 1 from Torres). All to play for.
Start of 2nd half, Torres latches on to a long ball and rolls the ball into the net! 2-1 aggregate to Pool. Last edited by rahl; 19-03-2010 at 05:11 AM. |

Hi bro, I didn't watch the game (not on SCV) but I did read that he (Lucas) had a really good game. Credit where its due for a good performance. Hooray! However and in my humble view, the point is that he just does not have that level of consistency to be a first 11 player. Unless mascherano or aquilani is unavaliable through suspension, injury or illness, I really do not see him as an automatic choice to start in the centre of midfield. After all, one good game and then followed up with three or four poor games really just doesn't cut it! Especially seeing as how we are desperately fighting for that last champions league spot!!! I do not hate Lucas, its just that I do not think that he should be an automatic choice to play central midfield. To me, I really fancy Gerrard in that position along with mascherano as the holding midfielder. I would then push aquilani to play in the hole behind Torres, or even Kuyt as a second striker. Lucas would be on the bench to come on after we have the game more or less won....! In the Portsmouth game, rafa left out Lucas...I thought that the team had alot more balance and were more penetrative without compromising too much in defence. Hence, I do not think it is necessary to have two holding midfielders (mascherano and lucas) palying together to start a match. Just to sidetrack, it appears to me that Babel has started to show his true potential and to his credit, is included in the starting 11 more often now. Why rafa does not apply the same principle when it comes to Lucas is something that I really do not comprehend!!! Anyway, all said and done, rafa is still the manager and all this ranting and raving is of no help....nonetheless, as a supporter of our great club, I think we should voice out our views if we see that all is not well with the football being played on the pitch. I am keeping the faith and holding on to the slender hope that we will qualify in 4th place yet....the 3 points against M Utd this Sunday will be fantastic...but alas, we shall have to see about that I suppose...! |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
we have drawn benfica in our europa cup q-final...
thou not the toughest opponent of all, they r not going to be easy too... they have some real quality players like aimar, saviola, ramires and of cos 1 of the hottest property in europe, angel di maria... they are a attacking team which have thrashed everton 5-0, herta berlin 4-0 in the earlier rounds of europa cup, and currently sitting on the top of portuguese lge.. but one advantage we have is to have the 2nd leg at anfield...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
What a difference a year makes. Last year we were winning 4-1 at OT but more importantly overpowering them in front of their own fans.
Now we are losing 2-1 and scrapping for 4th spot. Will we beat Chelsea in the last game and hand over the 19th title to the scum?? sigh. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I was at Rendezvous Hotel watching on the giant screen with a big crowd of Pool fans.
I think a draw would have been a fair result, considering scums didnt play well too. It was a cheap penalty to be given away by Mash. I thought with his vast Int'l n club experience, he ought to have made a better decision than that late tackle in d penalty box. After the MU equaliser, our fire seemed to have doused off. We rarely threatened n did not have many chances to score. SG was clearly off form tonite. Torres tried but didnt get the support he needed. The usually industrious Kuyt seemed tired. And Benayoun was brought in too late to salvage the game. I think Pool was probably too jaded after playing the mid week Europa game. I think it is not fair to compare last yr's result to this game. The big diff was the CONFIDENCE then, which was sky high compared to the wretched form we are in now.
