Hi walkingdick,

No no....please..I've been here less than a year. The policies here are quite confusing and a lot of paperwork to be done. I have to go through the process myself and hence needs to be aware of what is happening. There are much more policies out there which I do not know of or don't understand at all.
As for the job market situation, I guess everywhere is the same. Depends on what field of industry you are in. Everyone knows China is booming now. SH is just like spore back in the 80s booming period. With so many MNCs and foreign companies setting up shop here, I'm sure there is something for everyone. You just need to be there to grab the opportunity. Singapore is too saturated for me.

Re: Shanghai "In Conversation" Views, News & Reviews

Dear Bros,

Here is another information I just got from the papers Metro Express.

Its a free internet service called "丁丁地图"

its a virtual finder for example u want to look for a building or shop for its location and tel nos. It will list down all the shops with a map.
example : KFC, it will list out all the KFC outlets n show u a map of it as well as the transport to take.

If you have MSN just add the address [email protected] or [email protected]
or if you are using QQ add this number 359442198...

so you just type in what you are looking for in the chat window, after awhile it will be responded with your search.

or you can go to the website www.gsuo.com to have a look.

I tested it out on MSN. it doesn't recognised pinyin or english...only chinese..

hope this will be of help.

cheers

FYI, The "Green" booklet (Resident Permit) will be cancelled upon renewal this year.. That's mean, all foreigner must bring their passport to travel within China by Plane. It can be a hassle to bring passport instead of the small Green Booklet travelling...

Bro Shengge,
Thanks for the contribution! I'm sure it'll be useful to bros here one time or another!

As for lobangs for cheap ticket to SG, I think it'll be best if you can find a "partner" to travel with you.. hehehe... then you can enjoy the Twin-Fly Promotion offered by SQ. Hmmmm.... think maybe there is an additional use for this thread afterall... you can post your expected date of departure and return and perhaps some bros will be able to "fit" into that schedule? Otherwise, can negotiate if you give a date range instead of a particular date...

One word of caution though... SQ's tax has increased... other flights are now at about Rmb300-Rmb400+ but SQ's tax was Rmb700+ when I last bought.. Sincerely hope that they will re-revise the amount... sigh...

Anyway, hope to see more of your postings! You're full of SH info since you've been "localised".. hahhahaaha

Dear Bro Shanghaitan,
As the towkay here, my contribution got bonus points or not?

Twin-Fly? No so good lah, I still have to pay for the cost of the "partner" lah.... I would prefer the "Double Fly"....haha! (Can you help on this?)

After been here for some times, I still don't know Shanghai very well. I only knew how to go back home. Those places, mentioned on Sha Rec lately, paiseh to say, wa long em jai.
By the way, just realised that Singapore Consulate has moved to Wan Shan Road. http://www.mfa.gov.sg/shanghai/images/map.jpg

Cheers!

Dear Bro Shengge,
You don't have to pay for your partner (that is if you don't want to.. hahaha.. but if you need me to travel back with you... well... I'll be glad to if it is paid for... kekkeke...)... what I meant was to utilize this thread as a bulletin board and see if there are any other SG bros going back the same time as you... but for those bros feeling rich, like the bro in Beijing thread who paid Rmb 4,500 for a session with 3 girls, finding a "partner" and returning together might not be an impossiblity.. hahahha...

Double-Fly?? hahahahaha... you have more kangtaos then many of us noobies put together and you're asking MOI for kangtaos?? Hahahahaha... you're being too humble Bro!! When back in SG, note that I've already posted an Escort "service" for bros here.. you might want to check it out... and provide more info upon your return... info like damage, FR, etc etc...

Thank you for the heads up on the change of address information! Did not realise that the Singapore Consulate has moved.... Thanks!!!!

As for your points....well.... I'll up you when I can.. no problemo!!

Cheerio~!

Bro Shengge,
Why in the world would I zap your points when I have just added for you? hahahahaha.... and since when have I zapped anyone for that matter...

Post your dates in this thread if it is convenient and if any bros dates coincide, then we will get a "closed" deal.. right??

Don't worry about the Double-Fly thingy... you can post anything you want here.. and if any bros have suggestions, they can similarly post them here.. not a problem at all! This thread is for anything under the Sun and not confined to just Shanghai for that matter... hahahaha... it for Bros coming to Shanghai, bros now in Shanghai, bros going back to SG from Shanghai... or anyone else... NO PROBLEMO! No off topics and no unwarranted zappings...

Post in Peace Bros!!

Dear Bro linpehgaligong,

As a foreigner, I think the most recommended place would be World Link Medical and Dental. As far as I know, they have 2 branches and the numbers to call are:
6405 5788 (Hong Qiao Clinic)
6279 7688 (Shanghai Center Clinic)
Or you can check out their website www.worldlink-shanghai.com

The treatments will not be cheap, as a matter of fact, it will be EXPENSIVE but if it is our health, I think once in a while, if we have to pay, we have to pay. It's what I consider buying or paying for "Peace Of Mind"...

The reason behind stating the most OBVIOUS choice of healthcare service provider for foreigner is simply because I really don't recommend going to Local Hospitals. The last time I visited a Local Hospital was quite a few years back... maybe it is better now, but I really can't tell honestly... I travel past a hospital on my way to work everyday and just from the look of the entrance, I don't think I want to go back...

Even though I've been in China for a few years now, I think I'd rather die then to have to go back to Local Hospitals AGAIN!... hahhaa... perhaps a little extreme but I just don't like the idea of HUGE CROWDS and LONG QUEUES and worse of all, IV FOR ALMOST ANY ILLNESS YOU MAY HAVE. Plus it is not exactly Cheap per say, as compared to Singapore, and the doctors have been known to prescribe the most expensive and not the most effective medicine wherever possible. This I learnt from a past medical practitioner who has left the profession for feel that there is a lack of professional ethics in the medical profession in general. AND I'm not a fan of needles sticking into me... hahahaha...

I will continue to ask around to see if there are alternatives and will post when I know more...

Keep the postings coming!
