SEEMS like the KTV's are slowly getting back to normal with gals slowly trickling back to work. Guess the tax RMB's not being collected during the crackdown is probably a bit of concern to the authorities.

On the other hand, I am not optimistic at all on BBS's as these are too small/not tax revenue significant. Saunas is probably a big question mark for the powers-that-be for although they are quite significant size wise, the services offered is just too-in-your-face immorality/sexual service vs. KTV's which purportedly only offers San-Pei services to patrons.

Just purely my thoughts and definitely NOT based upon any facts.

Hi Bro,

I am going to CP 20-24th Aug with a friend for 4 nights, booked (through Gofly) in Virgin Hotel. Being 1st time there, will try mix karaoke session 1st night to get a feel. Thereafter will try on our own. Have read up the various threads and have some ideas on how to spend 4 days there ie. spa/foot massage/ktv/dining, etc. Interested to meet up there ?

I am not too optimistic too. In the past other places were all toned down. Places like Gaungzhou, Shenzhen, ZMT, Dongguan City were filled with SW and BBS. Then the gov't and LE started to crackdown. Some KTV's and some saunas are still around but majority have disappeared in these cities.

I don't people like seeing these places in the public and in view.

Tax dollars and the economy is one consideration - the other thing of worry is of course China's penchant for "face."

I really don't think that China would want to even have the slightest International reputation as a "Sex destination" and the fact that Chang Ping is now literally flooded with mongers from all over the world gives me pause.

Hainan was building up such an International reputation as a mongering destination a few years back - and the crack-down there was not only severe and swift, it is permanent. Same thing with Zhuhai - just too much International exposure/news.

You need to specify want city and what is your budget. Do you like staying at 5 star hotels, 3 star hotels or cheap as possible.

Miraton is always a good hotl to stay. To truly enjoy CP, a minmum of 4 nites, 5 days is a requirement.
