My bro past away last year July b4 tat he live alone wo marry but under join rental one rm w name w my mother
He seldom keep ctc w family member or give allowance to mother seen started wk. Only meet 2 to 3 time a year until late state of cancer , family member hv to take care of him till he pass away.

By then we knew tat he did start a renovation company few yrs ago but not sucessful n start to wk as odd job again.
As his company close down he did own income tax a few thousand dollar tat he was unable to pay till now
What t IRS do was to offset whenever tat is credit bonas or sg share w his outstanding bal he own

Recently my mom went bk to t rented HDB flat n found a letter fm IRS tax depart but wo stated name to t unit.
Letter written tat they know tat my bro had pass away but inform us t bal own $1400 tat we has to pay

My question

My bro had pass away so he will not recv any credit bonus n sg share by gv if any to offset his own out taxs ?

Adult age abv 21 if he own tax n unable to pay , is t family memb responsible to pay for him ?

A person had passed so no entitlement of any benifit fm gov but outstanding bal still outstanding not write off ???? Who is responsible to pay for t outstanding tax ???

We family bros n sis n mom , all has our own family n we r not well off
We even had to pool out to fund his hospital bills n his funeral w his bal cpf $4000

So will t taxs dept insist us to setter t bal ???
If we F care t letter wat will they do ????
