Funny though, in Rangnick's subsequent interview, he said he did speak with Carrick a couple of days before Arsenal match and tried to keep him on, but his decision was made weeks ago. Oh well... still, due respect to Carrick.

Third match in 8 days, and we've had less recovery time than Palace. Rangnick has only had one training session with the team, so probably won't deviate much from the match against Arsenal. Defence still porous despite holding midfielders and forwards doing a much better job defending from the front, so expect no clean sheet again.

Don't worry too much imom...i think the boys r getting the momentum back again...thanks to Carrick ...it is quite clear, they didn't want to play for OGS...Doesnt matter the scoreline...as long as we win...just like the other night when we beat the gunners by just 1 goal

Another night of reckoning is here again for the Red Devils...hope we get all 3 points n move up to top 5 in the league table

For tonight's game against the eagles (Crystal Palace), practically all pundits r rooting for a Red Devil win, except for Charlie who is predicting a draw...so let's hope the majority wins...provided OGS' god-sons don't misfire again or be constantly robbed of possession of the ball, it is not difficult to overcome the eagles, as they lost their last 2 games

1st half ended 0-0 with the eagles under constant attack...attacking football not seen for a long time... United also for the 1st time won 7 to 8 corners so easily but could not put any into the opposition net

I like the way how they press the opp player… but BF doesn’t seem to be playing tat gd today… hopefully second half will be better

It ended with a lucky 1-0 win from Fred who scored the goal, not really out of any kind of genius from any player..

It started from a lucky group short passing to one another in their goal area.. was a shaky win towards the end not a confident one ..the 1st half when they came out pressing n attacking was very impressive, made so many shots at goal n won so many corners but couldn't score any goals ..overall not too happy with the win as they took so long to score 1 goal after attacking them so frequently ..in fact it shd hv been a draw had the Eagles player kicked the ball more accurately into the MU net instead of narrowly missing it....2 mins b4 the goal scored by Fred

so in the end Charlie's prediction is incorrect again for the 2nd time running whilst the majority predicted correctly for a win but again the scoreline was wrong...but then Charlie could hv been right too had the CP player been more clinical n accurate in his kicking as the goal post was open at his mercy....GGMU !!

First half an hour was the most dominant display by Utd in recent memory. Guess they don't have the stamina to sustain it for 90 mins just yet, as they faded for the rest of the match. Still managed to keep control for the most part and still retained above 60% possession. Most importantly, a clean sheet!

Overall the team looks a bit more like the Scholes/Keane/Carrick era where they just passed on instinct around the opponents' box and always found a team mate. Only Ronaldo was fully tuned in last night, plus Bruno on a few occasions. Rest were still like half a second too slow, but the idea was there. More drills and practice then...

Credit to Fred - first in tackles, first in passes and a winning goal to boot. Telles and Dalot also did well and both managed shots on goal even though they are full-backs. Shaw and Wan-Bissaka might be looking at extended runs out...

Also nice to see Greenwood back and assisting, plus valuable minutes for Elanga.

Rangnick era off to a decent start. Hope it continues as we don't meet any of the big teams for the next 10 matches...
