went sayuri on bike yesterday at 3.30pm, not far from thapae gate only about 10 mins away. the directions provided by this thread is very accurate. reached there only to see that car park all full with about 30+ cars. at first blur blur coz got no one ot bring me in. luckily 2 thais walking in so i just follow lo, monkey see monkey do. opened the door to the fish tank wow pretty big area sia with 20+ gals in the fish tanks and on the other end of the glass is filled with 20+thais sitting on sofa drinking beer. wanna get a beer but no sit leh. so lan lan stand at one corner. wonder what they waiting for as i can spot about 2-3 not bad ones. i dun wan to rush things so hang around to see what they waiting for. true enough after 15 mins there are more gals coming in(abour5-6 of them) i spotted one cutie "M14" and went straight to the counter to make payment but the cashier dun speak eng and gotten the papasan over to deal with me. so zun that the other thai wanted her as well and the papasan kept saying sorry to me. i went back to see the no of the other gal is was considering-M34! paid 1300bahts same as locals paid(i saw they pay) went to the room with her (place is a bit run down but acceptable)

Any bros out there have any good recommendation on hotel accomodations in Chiangmai? or any specific area is more convenient to stay?

Am a frequent Phuket/Bangkok traveller, but my first trip to Chiangmai. Totally clueless.

Any advice is appreciated.

No really true, it depends on the several factors. If book now on silkair web site to travel on Jan 11, the average ticket cost from $475 to $500 plus. I booked on behalf of my friend 2 weeks ago, travelling on 3rd week of Jan & back on 1st week of Feb 11, per pax costs $375. If opts for TG, travel on the month of Jan 11, average ticket cost around $478. Cheers.

Righto, pricing depends if peak period or not.

Silkair can normally do for circa 400-600, but for some popular dates Nov (maybe Dec too?) is obscene at 1200!! Had Dec plans up north, so did the combo with TG at 600+ for week before xmas. TG's via Bkk, and be prepared for long overlay in Bkk -with shortest total travel time 4.5hrs with 1st morning flight to Bkk.

Or you can do another combo via Bkk, and commute to CNX by domestic airline like Bkk Airways, TG, NOK and Air Asia. Again, pricing varies with season. On Bkk Airways, budget AA and NOK, anything from bht1200-1500 (1 way) UP to thb2000++. For last week Nov, Loy Krathong hits prices UP.

Plenty, just search on Tim's thailandhoteldiscounts thread and webbie here (with Agoda).

For most newbies, staying at near night baazar area (quite central) is best. Big one I stayed awhile back was Central Dangtawan, just next door (pls validate if gal friendly though). Amari is ok too, not far from airport.

AA will inaugurate the first flight to CM on the first week of Feb 11. The average cost of the ticket is around S$200 with taxes, administration charges & a 12 kg check-in bag for promotion period. For non promotion or peak period, it can cost more than S$300 for per ticket, especially on Song klang. However, it still cheaper than silkair.

Is 200 1 way (non-peak)? Silkair circa 450-500 for promo period, goes up to 600 and even 1k (Dec high season). Competition's good to break the darned monopoly, hopefully Silkair soften prices (not daily somemore)

Just checked the web site of AA. The price varied on different date. Some of the non peak period can cost near to S$300 inclusive of taxes for a return trip. Cheers.
