I dont think there's going to be any sudden drastic change in their currency notes tho,as so far i have only hear on news that BI (Bank of Indonesia) has been urging (may be planning too,since President Jokowi asked for details) the Govt to take off the last 2 or 3 zeros from their currency.

If there were to be changes, i think most likely it will be informed in the news 1st with some cooling off period. And being a tourist,i doubt most of us will stock up too much rupiah to the extend like this guy :

Tourist's loses wont be much since most of us usually just change what we need to spend on (even if the bank's exchange rate has hit a little above 9800/SGD today). Fear and rumors (if one can understand how they were being build up in Indonesia) may result in a weaker rupiah which more likely favor tourists,like myself.

I think what you meant was IDR is dropping and SGD is stronger....similarly SGD is appreciating against USD which means appreciate against many currencies which pegged to USD...

I am happy becos SGD gets more VND now...more to spend...

Not sure if Vietnam will always EOL (end of life) their old notes when their new notes were out. Many Indonesian were more concern that their old notes... :

...people start getting worried. (India's EOL of their big notes kind of messed up)

History has taught many Indonesians that its government can be rather reckless when it comes to this kind of issues involving their people.

Side note : I actually have many old Indonesia notes and coins that has gone EOL from my parents. I just take it like a form of collection.

Since 2008 ever since I stepped into Vietnam...the Vietnam currencies had not changed...then their 10k, 20k, 50k, 100k, 200k and 500k already plastic polymer notes then...Vietnam had stopped issuing coins ever since mid 2011 but still legal tender...

Vietnam 500, 1k, 2k, 5k dong are paper money...

my fr for my trip 25-27/7

took the first ferry from kukup - cost 135. journey time is a bit over 1 hour. harassed a bit by the custom, i think its because i'm bringing a big ass bag that's filled with document. i came straight from a training course, hence the extra luggage. they did not ask for coffee money, just took me aside and threaten me for a urine test. since i'm willing to go for the test, they just let me go.

bought sim card at the jetty - cost rp 70k including credit for it. i think next time i wont buy it again n just use roaming package of my regular sim card.

took the blue van - cost 5k. check in at maxi around 9am ish indo time. room was a bit lousy i think (for the price). quite a number of things missing and there's only 2 channels that are watchable for me - HBO and Fox action movies. and 2 sport channels. the rest are local indonesian channels. for someone who just planning to stay inside the room and bonk, its quite boring. luckily i a brought along a laptop and hdmi cable. their staff is top notch. ever helpful and fast service. room service and mini bar price are very reasonable. i'm not gonna shop for tidbits next time. just gonna use the minibar items.

arrange kxxa to pick me and check out for my 1100 ferry which the hotel staff had already confirmed for me. and guys, make sure u have at least 60k for the seaport tax.

arrived at kukup at around 1300. you know the part that irritate me the most about this journey? the taxi fare from kukup to senai airport. RM 120!!!!!! theres no grab or uber here. so u are stuck with these old uncles taxi.
my plans after this will be taking flight in and out of singapore and continue from there. i already bought my flight tickets for my next trip.
