Like what you said this is the best time. For me I'll go as planned if my air tickets are booked. Less competition from other tourists for accomodation and entertainment. Girls will be more willing to please. Furthermore it's low season now. Most importantly it's a buyers market. You'll feel like a VIP x2 in establishments during this period while the rest cancel their trips and stay at home.
Fully agreed I will definitely go unless all flight had been cancel to Thailand....either it is very bad for us to go or it is better in a cheongster point of view....less man more share....hahahahah!

Buyer,s market...when the demand dropped....hahahahah

Re: Bangkok Field Report

Wise words bro, just aviod staying near khao san rd,sanum luang, sanum pao and khet ari.. the protesters wun touch ratchada and those hot spots la. If not they risk another group of demostrators, The working ladies would be staging a protest in bikinis if their rice bowls is affected. Quite stupid of the MPs establishment and clubs, they should come up with a promo like "state of emergency special" which is only valid for this limited periods, it would attract more visitors in if they slash prices or lengten the time...

Re: Bangkok Field Report

Comment from a frog in the well? How well do u understand thai culture? D the thais have nothing better to do to fly all the way down to geylang to get bonk by samsters like u? they could have stay in the MPs establishment to owork and earn the same amount of money as well? One advise for u, join the protestors for a night and say it to their face after that they have nuthing better to do if u do have the guts.

this comments is really uncalled for ....
every country have their own issues and matters that no other country can understand ... thus we must learn to respect and sympathize on their problems ...

my thai friend claim that such protest and riots have been happening in thailand for the past 40 yrs ... to the thai ppls, this is common ...

thailand problem lies in corruption from the lowest to the highest level and till today, they cannot find a good leader to lead the country ..

it's sad to see such country with so much to offer to the world in this state of mind and the ppl r struggling to stay together ...
before we start accusing and making remarks abt them ...
asked yourself ... r u fortunate to be in somewhere else ??

Yes there're even more bloodier riots in the past.

It's very sad that such a great hospitable and friendly country has many unresolved problems and corruption. It's the poor people that suffers. The rich (like Thaksin) gets richer. Although he's not "corruption" free but he's the best PM so far. He did many stuff where no PMs dare to do because he's damn loaded. He gunned down all the drug dealers. Imagine that. Before he came into the scene. Drugs are easily available in BKK. Haha he's seliing Manchester City Club to the Abu Dhabi United Group.

I've lived in Thai neighbourhoods before. Majority are nice people. The average Thai dude is not concerned about politics but to make ends meet. It's the politicians cum tycoons and mafia are running things. They make sure their pockets get fatter and fatter. They don't care about the people "under" their social level. On the whole even with inflation Thailand is still cheaper to live than in Vietnam. Thailand will always have a special place in my heart even though I've not been there for a while.

Re: Bangkok Field Report

thailand has huge income disparity and this is so even in bkk itself.
heard from thai friends that Thaksin help the poor but at the same time he also has a lot of under table corruption. basically, he cuts out a lot of the other rich people from these deals so that he is the main player. hence others are not happy. but my sense from them is that at least he help poor people ..hence his support are mostly up country ..the poorer north east region. (issan etc)

agree with bro tony that thais are generally very nice and friendly people.
hope these end quickly, was planning a trip there some time this month to visit some friends .

Re: Bangkok Field Report

But frankly, Thakins is the best possible PM, Thailand ever had. I was in Bangkok several times, most are in high praise for him especially the Taxi drivers Tutut riders etc. try talking to any Taxi drivers in Singapore, and they'll spew all nasty stuff on PAP government or Lee-regime.

I don't believe Thakins bought their praises through money politics but policies that benefit the people for the people. Kudos to Thakins. Just that he offended too many rich and middle classes if not, I really sincerely believe he is the best Thais ever had.

Though I am not a Thai, but when I saw Thakins first and foremost action when he step out of the Airport was to kiss the floor of his homeland. For show or for real, He is a LEADER and THE LEADER. I don't think the Lees are anywhere close to him. The Lees are Giant like Goliath. But Thakins is like David. And like David he was betrayed and exiled. Hopefully, he will rise again and be redeemed.

My sincere wish for the Thais pro or anti the Government, avoid violence at all cost. At then end these actions will only hurt the Thais where it hurt most - their stomach.

Going to Bangkok this weekend despite travel advisory from MFA. Going to White Dragon King Palace.
