One word of caution. Nothing is ever free in China, especially shanghai. I am not saying it is impossible, just very rare and far in between cases. Most of the "friendlier" girls in pubs and discos are working ladies anyway, so rather than wasting your time and chatting them up, just go ahead and ask them how much. Save you tons of trouble. Maybe I am speaking from my point of view as a fat and ugly person. For all i know you may be a stud and women fall at your feet to worship you... (I've actually met a few friends like that, they get lots of action!)

As for the places you mentioned, hengshan road is dead, maoming road is dead. Tongren road seems to still have a little life. However, these are all hangouts for your ang mo expats. I personally do not like to hang out in these places. I will make exceptions for places with really solid live bands (like LUNA at xintiandi).

And also, not only that we are getting tired of these places, a lot of us are getting advanced in years and our vital organs are no longer 100%. We have to watch the amount of alcohol we consume so we don't lose our liver or someother important part.

Nothing is free, especially in China. Not to mention about those mm in KTVs or Pubs, cos they are there to earn for living.
Even those normal decent girls, some of them will ask for 分手费 or 青春损失费, when break off with their bf or lover.
Well, I think prob the cheapest would be staying at home and surf SBF and with a cup of coffee.....

You are absolutely right in saying that "Nothing is free, and it is a matter of how and when you are going to pay for it". How are you? Thinking about going Euroland, I feel very sianz... Two weeks.. some more.

I long to go back to China. Although I did not know at all the details about your Past encounter. I could sense that it was not a pleasant one. Look on the bright side. I have gone through a lot, and with good luck, my family is still in good shape. Now, even I am with a constant companion, I am very clear in my mind that one day, she would leave me for other man, simply because I would never leave my love ones at home for her. I think probably I will need to be more careful in Shanghai compare to Singapore or even Hong Kong.. I mean quite many friends do get a lot of actions there and I don;t think they actually pay for that.. ONS is quite common there kua... So probably I am not young and handsome no chance to get the actions already.. haha

I think some ONS is real lah especially in HK. I got a friend who got gf already but the HK gf which he knows in internet come to SG to look for him. Well, society is open now so I actually expect some actions in Shanghai where it is probably more open.. So far quite disappointed lol

To get action, you definitely can. But you do have to invest your time and efforts. Know them, ask them out, go out with them several times and TCSS with them. And after that, maybe you get to score a bit. By that time, and doing your calculations, you would have spent quite a bit of money also for all the food and expenses. To think you just met someone and you can score for free... hmmm I doubt it. Like I said in my earlier posts, China is a place where the strong and streetsmart survive. The girls are a lot smarter than you think. Much more so than girls in Singapore. In Beijing, it is relatively easier to get what you are looking for, but you still have to invest some time and effort and plus you need to have northern china accent.

Babyface has moved from maoming road to huai hai road. It is not very expensive but prices are around market. I havent been there for the longest time but i think chivas is around 700 there if i am not wrong.

Xintiandi is very upclass now. But it depends on what you mean by happening. I like Luna because they really have a very good band and I am the type that appreciates live music. I do not really care about the crowd.

Anyway I am kind of bored these days. PM me if you want to go out. I don't really drink so i will just pay for my own coke or something.
