Just my opinion, and cos I want to know more and better info.

Why would AV want to get numbers from sbf and register and ask for contacts of FL and then go register in hotel and then arrest the gals? Doesnt it all sound a bit cumbersome and far-fetched? So AV officers are number collectors too, ie collect numbers not to f@@k but to arrest? Unbelievable!

I think AV Dept has to do its job ie minimise, not stamp out, vice activities.

Once long ago, prostitution was a top vice. Now I don’t think it’s considered by the authorities to be so, what with the sexual needs of PR professionals and migrant labourers. Last century, one minister Byrne tried to outlaw prostitution. Today, it’s thriving (thanks in part also to sbf). A decade ago, one minister confirmed that the red light districts will remain. Hey, one million (ok, almost, if we consider only the males) foreigners without release outlets will mean a great increase in sexual crimes!

So, what should AV do? Or, what has the AV Dept been instructed to do or not to do?

The visible signs of prostitution should be removed. Esply in areas that previously were not hotbeds of the activity. Think Joo Chiat area. Action has started with the no transit accommodation for hotels in the area. The bars and karaoke joints should be next, I think.

The red light areas are well known to Singaporeans, and they will not in their right minds buy a house or apartment in these areas. Hey, you wouldn’t buy an apartment next to a sewerage treatment plant, would you? So the RL areas remain, and the business continues only in these areas.

But, the AV cannot be seen to do nothing in the RL areas, so what to do?
So maybe they conduct a raid of a love hotel once in a while, according to posters here who might have heard rumours of such??? Nah, I don’t think so.

More sensible and reasonable and public visible if the AV were to go pick up the street gals in the RL areas. No street walkers mean no visible solicitation (some bros in earlier posts clarified solicitation is the crime). Means no hang around migrant labourers. Means no public complaints. Etc etc.

So do the AV really truthfully go trapping FLs via hp and room numbers etc? Anyone here honestly had the experience? Or are those posts put up by people protecting their ‘upp my rep points in return for contact’ business?

It is a stupid government which thinks it can stamp out the oldest profession in the world. Not even a great communist country like China will attempt it. The govt here is not stupid because it knows full well that we are a global country; and that includes all the implications and ramifications of globalisation. And the sex industry is an inherent component.

So let’s not listen to rumours. Just enjoy. When you’re caught with a street walker, just admit it. Sorry to the gal, but you save your skin. The AV just wants to keep them off the street. If the street walker is provided to you by a pimp, then you should when asked give his/her number to the AV officers to save your skin, no dishonour there, self preservation comes first. If your gal is a ‘call girl’ as most of them are, then just say she’s a friend. Just hope they have all their documents in order, that all. What’s wrong with a foreign visitor making friends and sharing some good sex?

yeah i read the article but i couldnt see any mention of the engineer asking if it was a cop or not.

sure the cop can pose as a druggie and try to buy drugs or pick up a FL but my understanding that if before further business takes places (money or producing of drugs) the drug dealer or FL can ask if they are cop or not IF they answer "NO" then arrest then them its classed as entrapment and also against the law. the cop has to answer honestly to that question.

if they dont ask then get caught then its kinda own fault.

I dun know why AV is targeting the FLs in SBF. It's very inefficient n not cost effective.

They know about the 50-60 PRC MMs lining up at L8/Talma n many more elsewhere...how about the thousands of FLs at HCs n KTVs?

Dun they hv much bigger fish to fry?

It's always a function of supply n demand. To reduce the no. of FLs is simple. Try increasing the supply of LEGAL, young n pretty gals by 100-fold or 200-fold or whatever it takes n the FLs may disappear like the morning dew or the dodo.

Just one man's humble opinion...if my view is politically incorrect n even offensive to some, my apologies...

Confirm true tat AV is doing someting, I noe a few FL in this forum suddenly lose contact. I believe all kana deport liao. Better way is not to give contact to newbie or any one with no proper or enough post. Unfair to newbie but no choice

well, for a start, i think newbies can try OKTs first la..post some FRs and honestly after awhile should be ok. At least thats how i came about. Then again, 1 can never to be too sure. Sighs, AV raids into G area are commons afterall and so the cat-and-mouse game is all too familiar. However, those raids require lots of paperwork and from time to time, these ambush will suffice. At least, they appear to be working. Better still, can officially surf SBF while working!!

Yes, what you said is true....several FLs in this forum are unreachable now...however it does not mean that they are targetted. Most of these FLs use hotels in the Geylang/Lavender areas for their operation and could be detained why a raid is going on in these hotels.

In the recent parliament sitting, the issue of why there are so many foreign ladies in Singapore was raised. One MP even said ICA should be stricter in allowing social visit passes to these ladies. I think the Minister in charge responded by saying that Singapore is encouraging tourism and cannot be seen at the same placing obstacles at the point of entry.

So the only way is to conduct regular raids in the hot spot areas to dampen the flourishing of vice activities. AV has to be seen to be doing their jobs, especially after the issue is raised in parliament.

After a while, when no one is highliting the issue any more, the number of raids will come down and life goes on as usual in the red light areas.

AV conduct raids everyday irregardless of timing and location but most of the time at peak hours and hotspots. As mentioned before, the girls do not need to be seen soliciting or being in the company of cheongsters in hotel rooms.

They employ different tactics everytime and they dont give a damn so long as they meet their quotas. My take is the few FLs in SBF happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time....can only blame their luck.

I have known many FLs that was arrested and sent back including my own girl. Initially, while fresh all were afraid but after sometime all were resigned to the fact that they have limited time here and have to take the risk associated with it if not they cannot make the $$$ for the same reason they are here in the 1st place.

As far as I know, as long there is no mention of $ or the LAW called it 'soliciting' then no one breaking the law.

I think making love in hotel with any gals whether is she a tourist, on social pass or work permit is NOT a crime.

Let assume one day, I am at hawker centre and strike a conversation with a girl and both of us 'çlick' and decided to have quick fling in one of the budget hotel. It is a crime? I dont think so.

AV has the right to raid at any time and at any hotels, importantly there should be no mention of $ and remain firm on your ground. I believe it should be safe.

Just my 2 cents worth of my personal view.
