Bro Shengge,
I don't know who will not fall into this deep well because I think most people will fall into it once in a while.. however, maybe some will fall in more often than necessary? I used the word "necessary" because in order to learn, anything for that matter, the "easiest" way would be to experience it first hand.. but if already pre-warned, then perhaps the first hand experience will not the as hard a lesson as one will be going in with wide open eyes.. meaning they will know when to "pull out" before "full damage" can be or has been done.. right?

Anyway, that's just my personal opinion..

Cheerio~!

Bro SH69, LKY commented China might take 50 years to be on par with SG and in another 50 years to exceed SG economic level by 100 %. The economic may look properous but the 'quality' of the natives must improve with the country. "Effective and Efficiency" are the issues here.. Nevertheless, these 2 qualities will eventually achieve in 50 years. I lost my $$ to a XinJiang kid during my 1st month here and still learning to accept to what is it 'standardly' in China. But i like to give 2 pieces of advises out to the Bros in China, quoted by my Best Uni Mate..

"Save $$ n Retire" Most of us came here to work for $$ beside experience. Keep your main objective intact, save $$ or whatever it is. I hv heard bad examples to SGrean having $0 in bank after working for many years. No offense if you happen to be one of them.

"Learn locally" For the next 10 years' time, SG will depend on China's Scale of Economic. If you do not have this skill, you cant survive if you return to SG for good. For example, treat your "key-man" a dinner every month or buy Cigar during your overseas trip. Anymore survival examples, Bros out there, help to quote leh.

Well said bro. U r rite, every country got all kind of ppl in it. We sporean sumtimes pride ourselves for this n that, but the fact is that we also have these bad apples among us, it juz a matter of diff extent.

Dun forget, spore has been pushing those campaigns for how many donkey yrs b4 we achieve the result today (though still far from ideal) and we r onli such a small nation. So imagine how tough it will be for a big country for china to achieve the same.

Even so called "developed" or "democratic" nations like the US who everytime open mouth, close mouth talk abt Human Rights also have these human rights issue back home, remember got a case where the police whacking a black guy even after he was hand-cuffed and caught on surveilance video.

Hence, juz take things as it is when u r there (既来之,则安之), this is what they call adapting to the environment loh.

Cheers to all bros.....

Exactly, "humble" is the key word. Like what I was saying to SuperFriend in the previous post, using the soft-approach is better than bashing yr way thru, though I know it may not work all the times.

As we r in ppl country, onli rite that we respect their ppl, unless they r utterly rude to us. This is what we would like the foreigners to behave in our country as well.

Though my own experience is short n outdated, but I believe the situation wun be that diff in terms of ppl behaviour there, as it take a very long time for ppl to change their behaviour. I have similar exp as Bro SGP, in that, usually when u r courteous to them, chances r they wun be rude to u. So if can make life less miserable, y not? Work aside, juz blend in n enjoy yr social life there.

Bro Shangtaitan,

Nice to see u here again.

If I say I never fall into this trap b4, u believe me?

During my time there, I always tell the gal after I know them that I'm not a rich guy. I'm onli consider so so in china n a poor guy in spore. I have never bought any expensive items for my gfs nor give them any $$ (maybe I stingy, hahaha), juz that when we go out, of course i pay for the expenses lah and once in a blue moon, maybe a small gift.

Dun mind if I say this, sumtimes guys get chop as chai tao is also due to their own doing. I personally have seen sporeans acting like they r millionaire when they r not, or boasting how big their business is in spore. If u try to 打肿脸皮充胖子,then how can the gal not sharpen their knives to ripped u off, u r basically asking for it.

So again, maybe it pays to be humble, and always exercise constraint when cum to spending yr hard earned $$ on the gals there, though it is in RMB.

1 “礼”多人不怪
2 逢年过节,要烧香拜佛
3 以华制华
4 官字两个口,不要跟他斗
5 衙门里有人好办事
6 有难题,要研究(烟酒)

Any more from other bros?

Dear Bro tionggoklan,
Indeed it's been a while since I last posted.. nice to be back!

And of course I believe you! Some bros are born "street smart" or maybe the word that you'd use would be "humble"

But not many will have such a record to boast about.. like it or not, some bros, even when they have fallen still "refuse" to admit and face the painful fact...

It is true that there are bros out there who like to portray themselves as very "Can" when it actual fact does not have the 本钱 to lose... therefore, as you have so accurately stated, if you act like you "can", then you'd be asking for it... and can't blame the women to sharpen their knives and take a big slice off you.. right?

Anyway, keep the postings coming!! We have a lot to learn from bros like yourself.. in terms of "living and surviving" in China as well as poetry.. hehehe

Dear Bro tionggoklan,
There are no "has beens" here... there is no such thing as "has beens" because real life applications of lessons learnt is an ongoing process..

Furthermore, there are no right or wrong views.. because they are views and are subjective.. no such thing as right or wrong..

Keep the postings coming bro!

Tks Bro, now lets TCSS abit. Now the weather should be very hot oreli rite? hahaha, remind me of this poem abt the season, but it is for spring call 春晓 , it goes like this:

春眠不觉晓,
处处闻啼鸟,
夜里风雨声,
花落知多少。

Then long ago oreli heard of this other version, its abt summer, but no name given to it, so I call it 夏恼(夏天的烦恼),it goes like this:

夏天不洗澡,
处处蚊子咬,
夜里拍掌声,
不知死多少。

Then since got spring n summer, so me attempted 2 poems for autumn n winter, juz for fun lah:

秋蝉

秋天气高爽,
蝉声处处响,
夜里辗转身,
绵羊数多少。

冬寒

冬天没吃饱,
肚子咕咕响,
夜里梦佳肴,
口水流多少。

Juz for laugh!

Yo bros,

I'm finally back from Singapore and well, the weather is really something I must get adjusted to...

So hope to meet up bros who're planning for any happening gathering ahead...

By the way, perhaps you've realised ALL my points have been zapped by someone who disagreed with my FR posting on a GL gal at a GL thread. A pity to that guy who's suffering from delusion, thinking of that GL gal as a big boobs fairy... Dream on, brudder!
