Barcelona 2 - 0 Athletic Bilbao: Barca back to business

Barcelona ended their five-match winless run with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao and stretched their lead to six points at the top of the Primera Liga.

The win was made sweeter by the fact title rivals Real Madrid could only draw at home to city rivals Atletico.

Sergio Busquets gave the Catalans the lead after 17 minutes and Lionel Messi added a second from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark to seal a first win in a month for the league leaders.

A quickfire Thierry Henry double spurred Barcelona on to a 5-2 rout of Olympique Lyon and a place in the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday.

The Primera Liga leaders, who won 6-3 on aggregate, overwhelmed the French champions to take a 4-0 lead inside 43 minutes with further goals from Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o.

The euphoria inside a packed Nou Camp was tempered, however, when Lyon scored either side of halftime through Jean Makoun and Juninho to give themselves a ray of hope.

But their chances of progressing had all but disappeared by the time substitute Seydou Keita went clear in added time to score past Hugo Lloris and round off a superb Barca performance.

Almeria 0 - 2 Barcelona: Krkic double seals Barca win

A second-half brace from Bojan Krkic gave Barcelona a hard-fought 2-0 win at Almeria and saw the Catalans restore their six-point lead at the top of the Primera Liga.

The young striker was handed a rare start up front and repaid coach Pep Guardiola with two clinical strikes early in the second half as Barcelona continued their recent good form.

Barcelona 6 - 0 Málaga: Barca in good form

Barcelona took another step towards the Primera Liga title as they put six goals past Malaga without reply at the Nou Camp on Sunday night.

Pep Guardiola's side tore the visitors apart with a fantastic display of attacking football in the first half and stormed into a four-goal lead at the break.

Xavi opened the scoring after 19 minutes and Lionel Messi doubled their lead with a stunning second halfway through the first period.

Thierry Henry then made it three just after the half-hour mark and Samuel Eto'o gave the Catalans an unassailable four-goal lead just before the break.

Dani Alves got in on the act shortly after the restart and Eto'o added a sixth as Barcelona ran riot.

Valladolid 0 - 1 Barcelona: Narrow win by Barca

Barcelona's hopes of reclaiming the Primera Liga title survived intact despite a nervy showing in their 1-0 victory at Valladolid.

Barca had plenty of chances to kill the game off but lacked precision in the final third, with Xavi and Andres Iniesta both failing to score despite a handful of chances.

Striker Samuel Eto'o was more successful, starting and then sublimely finishing the game's only goal after 40 minutes.

Barcelona took a giant step towards the semi-finals of the Champions League as they thrashed Bayern Munich 4-0 at the Nou Camp.

Barca's rampant strikeforce did the damage in a completely one-sided first half.

The Catalans raced into a two-goal lead within 12 minutes as Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o struck early on.

And the locals' dominance brought two more goals before half-time, with Thierry Henry setting up Messi for his second seven minutes before the break and then slotting home a fourth himself just before the interval.

Barcelona 2 - 0 Recreativo Huelva: Iniesta inspires

Barcelona moved another step closer to the Primera Division title after seeing off Recreativo Huelva 2-0 thanks to an inspired display from Andres Iniesta.

Iniesta scored the opening goal inside the first minute and was also heavily involved in Barca`s second midway through the second half, his low cross being turned into his own net by Recre defender Nasief Morris.

Lionel Messi also missed a late penalty for Barca but it made little difference to the outcome as Pep Guardiola`s all-conquering side moved nine points clear of Real Madrid, who play Real Valladolid on Sunday.

Bayern Munich shared a 1-1 draw with Barcelona to partly make up for a crushing defeat in Spain last week - but they were still eliminated from the Champions League 5-1 on aggregate.

Franck Ribery gave Bayern the lead in the 47th minute, but Barca hit back with Seydou Keita's drive restoring parity in the 73rd minute.
