Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
yea don't worry too much about lack of action as it's action galore in pinoy-land.
it's the perfect combination of a 3rd world-ish developing economy with a cosmopolitan population that speaks half decent English. just ripe pickings for us sg / m'sian boyz to pluck and hunt. anyway will prob be hanging out at mbc these few days, or nights rather..If you wanna group chiong or just shoot the breeze, send a PM Enjoy! |

Well, the fake raids and all happen to those who want live on the fast lane, chat up street walkers .. etc Going rate ? well, that's blasphemy .. there is no going rate in Havana - though depending on the day of the month, it can fluctuate between 3,000 to 15,000 You won't believe - a lot of crazy punters don't blink their eyes before paying up 15,000 - yah, seen it .. and left that game to those who have such wallets If you are risk averse, well, you can check out MBC - cheaper .. and well, the girls are not into nonsense .. Or you can tag bolsterposter along I will be in Manila, next week, again, for a short trip, pretty tight sched though ..

Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
those in havana, are FL, mostly, and sprinkle a bit of 'regular' girls too .. hence the need to go later ...
at day time, it is a normal cafe .. remember that .. Unlike MBC - any time, the girls are FLs Still I don't know why you say MBC is too far .. are you sure ? in Manila times, it is a stone throw away

Just imagine if one day when COE is very high like almost 100k (not too distant future methinks), and you feel you can only afford to buy a 2nd hand car. Havana is like maybe going to Mackenzie used car mart near Rochor. It's around the town area, so quite accessible, however, there's only a handful of dealers there, so not many cars to see. MBC is like going to Automobile Megamart - a bit further away in Eunos but DAMN there are so many dealers there, and all kinds of CARS. From greasy old past their prime, don't know what they are doing there CARS, to sleek AND soft top EXOTIC cars.. you will definitely be able to find something to fit your budget and taste. Just be sure to tag the one you like early or she (i mean IT) will get snapped up. Vroom! Enjoy! |

I'm so tempted that I might actually go. Can I just get the hotel to call a cab for me? And just say Manila Bay Cafe to the driver?

Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
yea 30 mins one way
not sure if you should call hotel car - since it's always definitely more expensive. any cab driver worth his salt should know where MBC is, or if they look blur, just say "LA Cafe", and you will be rewarded with a smile, a widening of the eyes and the magic words: "Ohh.. LA CAFE! Yes I know." makati -> MBC ~ 120-160 php, depending on traffic Enjoy! |

Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
AtlasShrugged: yah, bolsterposter must be in sales
bolsterposter : Yah - hotel cabs ask 400 peso for a 100 peso ride - though I don't agree to your 'super sleek' sport cars in MBC description It happens, but rarely, and they often drool over ang mohs .. and Japs (and koreans.. ) sate: ask the hotel to stop a street cab .. will do the trick - and on return, don't pick the cabs lining up at MBC - they claim to be 'chartered' and will fight for a bigger fare - still cheaper compared to Singapore prices - but stop a passing cab. And again, if you find 30 mins is long, I would say 'stay away from Philippines' - ever heard of Philippines time ?? 9.30 PM is 10.30 PM 8.00 AM is 10 AM And if you are supposed to meet somebody today, they will say "why are you getting stressed ? You are on vacation, extend the holiday by another 2 days .." forgetting that flight changes cost $ and you should have leave to extend your break .. and talking logic don't go anywhere .. Welcome to the Pinas !!!!!!!!!! next week, it is my turn to get into the drill .. PWRDWNSYS - essentially switch off efficiency Singapore mode and switch to infficient and take-it-easy (bahala na) Pinas made .. (or Hakuna Matata ?? )

Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
Just drop by to say a word of thanks to bro etsys as I got some unrelated query on Pinoy land and he was very patient to dispense some sagely advice...he really quite a subject expert here!
On a more related note all these writings make me very tempted to go drop by for a visit at Greenbelt...have been reading this thread from page 1 and did some homework besides just getting spoonfeed and its really quite doable... Planning to fly airasia to Clark and from there cab to hotel...hotel wise still pondering (e-hotel? Tune hotel?), can't make up my mind... Any recommendations bros? A bit more ex is ok but good if near mbc or Havanas like walking distance haha...anyway thank everyone here for sharing...it's helpful to newbies like me looking to travel to someplace foreign to Cheong... |

Airasia to Clark then to MBC will be very long travel distance n time. Why not fly to NAIA? Tiger/Jetstar/Cebu/Airphil Express so many options. If you want near MBC, think Tune Ermita is very near to there. N opp Tune Ermita, the Nailas Money Changer shows one of the best rates in manila. Pls note I have not tried them as transport to n fro to change $$ is crazy n unsafe. If u do stay there, u can try out. Remember, count your $$, return to room, lock your $$ in safe n bring what u need out.
