Glad that you like Chiang Mai! I don't see many Singaporeans here except for a few self-employed ingenius doing direct sales and group tourists. Imperial Mae Ping Hotel costs >1850 THB per night. Pretty expensive compared to many others. I believe you are on the Sridonchai Road, good location.

Chiangmai Hills 2000 Hotel on 18 Huay Kaew Roadonly may be a wiser selection, it costs only slightly >1000 THB per night with easy access to downtown Chiangmai, central business district and Night Bazaar (I mean night CHICK FARMs).

Enjoy yourself. Wanna join you if I can but in BKK.

Wah lau... keep on prompting CM ,do you have a share or want to setup a KTV or bar there .
CM has many cheap and good hotel (Below B700) without extra charge
You can walk in directly eg Top north(B650) Si+++yo (B500)

For some hotel you must book double or twin then you can bring another person
Take note :Some hotel charge extra is due to the reception counter staff going to pocket the money themself (so you must book double or twin)

If too many people cheong for Cm ,then it will make me more difficult to get cheap ticket from tiger

.For me I seldom go to local CK Farm for many years
Great that you can enjoy there

Chiang Mai gets a French sister

Report from Bangkok Post dated Saturday 18 February 2006 :-

Chiang Mai gets a French sister

Thailand's northern resort city of Chiang Mai and France's southwestern resort city of Leon have agreed to become sister cities.

The two cities are scheduled to officially sign the agreement in Chiang Mai on Saturday, witnessed by Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and visiting French President Jacques Chirac.

Vice Chairman of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce Somsak Vanichkhachorn told TNA on Friday that he would also attend the signing ceremony of the accord, aimed mainly at forging close trade and investment ties and cooperation between the two cities.

The Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce and its counterpart in Leon had also agreed to become comrades' chambers, with the agreement to be signed at Saturday's ceremony as well, Mr. Somsak noted.

"The accord between the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce and its counterpart in Leon is believed to pave the way for expanding trade and investment between Thailand's northern Lanna cluster of provinces and Leon, which is a business and tourism centre in Europe," he said.

The country's northern Lanna cluster of provinces include Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son, Phrae and Nan.

"The accord is expected to particularly benefit local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as producers of community-based products under the government-supported One Tambon, One Product (OTOP) scheme," Mr. Somsak said.

President Chirac and his wife, Madame Bernadette Chirac, are paying a state visit to Thailand as the guests of Their Majesties the King and Queen, scheculed for February 17-19.

Their Majesties the King and Queen received the French president and his wife at the Royal Thai Air Force's Airport in Bangkok Friday afternoon.

The visit, the first-ever for France's head of state since the Ayutthaya period, is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and members of the Thai cabinet are also scheduled to hold a plenary meeting with the French president and his entourage, including French foreign, finance and industry, external trade, defence and tourism ministers.

The two sides will discuss a joint French-Thai action plan, proposed by the Thai government, covering bilateral cooperation in science and technology, tourism, as well as fashion businesses, including a plan to set up Thailand Fashion House in Paris.

The two governments will also discuss a bilateral cooperation in extending financial support to Thailand's neighbouring countries.

The Thai government will invite French business persons to invest in Thailand's mega-development projects as well.

The Thai and French governments will then sign bilateral agreements in postal services, as well as information and communication technology (ICT)
and science and technology.

The two countries' private sector will also sign their business pacts, including those between Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) and Bangkok Airways and France-based Airbus Co. on purchases of 21 Airbus aircraft over the next five years.

The French and Thai leaders will issue a joint statement on bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries.

Prime Minister Thaksin said he would personally seek a support from President Chirac for Thai Deputy Prime Minister Surakiate Sathirathai's bid for the next United Nation’s Secretary-General.

Incumbent UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan's term will expire at the end of this year.

Chiang Mai Night Safari riles Aust activists

Report from The Nation dated Sunday 19 February 2006 :-

Chiang Mai Night Safari riles Aust activists

Zoos in Sydney and Melbourne have agreed to send 40 Australian native animals to a safari park in Thailand at which it is alleged many animals have died, Fairfax newspapers report.

In exchange, Melbourne Zoo and Taronga Zoo will import eight Asian elephants. The plan is detailed in a memorandum of agreement between the Thai government and the Victoria and New South Wales governments signed in June 2004, the newspapers are reporting. It was tabled in the Sydney Administrative Appeals Tribunal during a recent attempt by animal-welfare groups to stop the elephant imports.
One Thai activist told the Fairfax newspapers that birds in the Chiang Mai Night Safari were dying every day, three out of six crocodiles had died of infection and one hyena had been eaten by others, while Thai media claim 104 animals have died.

In a statement, the zoos said the transfer of Australian animals to Thai zoos was not contingent on the elephant programme.

Re: Chiangmai

Day 3

Woke up and felt horny... so bonk lorr... went for conference, then went back to hotel to meet the gers, got horny and started to get warmed up wif the ger, but no hehehe... then we went out for lunch with the gers in tow.. had a wonderful lunch... 4 persons about 500 baht. Very good food... Went back to the hotel... went for a MP nearby for foot reflexology, 180 baht for 1 hour.. high compared to HDY... Went for another networking dinner.. went back to the hotel ... changed and went to check out Spotlight... an agogo bar. Reached there... was approached by a SYT to buy her a drink... named L.. so my frenz ... too high standard, say that nothing is right for them... I booked out the girl by paying her bar fine of 500 baht. Negotiated her overnite rate to 1500 baht... together we left on her motorcycle to Sayuri to check out the KTV there... cos my friends were still hunting. Anyway, the motorcycle ride brought back my younger days... wah, straight away, GFE very high already... Reached Sayuri... MP got no gers, went to KTV, got very chun babes, but unfortunately, no time to tackle lorr... the rate for Sayuri KTV was 120 baht room per hour and 200 baht per hour booking for girls for KTV. The total bill was about 1000 baht for 1 hour, 3 girls + drinks and 2 beers. If KTV is your game, then the KTV's in CM are definitely a challenge, but with GREAT rewards... hehehe.. went back to the hotel... got intercepted by the guard to pay a 500baht visitor fee again.. KNN... so i talk to the guy as we went up the lift, when I reached the room to pay, he had gone down in the lift... hehehe... so freebie!!... BTW, Sheraton charges 800 baht. So bonked.. and went to sleep.

Re: Chiangmai

Day four...

Woke up, bonked.... went or breakfast alone (while the girl slept)...went back to room.. horny again so bonked again lorr.. hehehe... then brought the girl out for lunch with two of my frenz... Taxi suggest Floating restaurant... 300 baht two and fro (this time. itz a car... so agreed)... reached there... again, damn good food, another 500 baht bill, went back to the hotel, L left for her home to get some rest (apparently, with me around, she dun get any... I wonder why... hahaha). So I went back to the MP for a rub down, and back to dinner for another networking business session... Took a tuk tuk back to the hotel, went to Chiangmai Land area to check out the KTV's... ther gers were really sweet, but the bar fine was too high for my liking, some quoted up to 3000 baht... rates for drinks were ok... unlimited mixers, black label is 1800 baht... gers booking is standard for 200 baht an hour, room about 100 baht to 150 baht per hour... Check out Jji Kum again.. my ger not around, my frenz saw one, but their motto is must choose together, so we never choose lorr... decided to go back to Spotlight... (L was waiting for me there... hehehe..)... reached there, ... L not around... was happy and sad at the same time... hehehe... a girl approached me and started chatting... buy her a drink... my frenz this time on overdrive... everyone book 2 girls to sit together... was about to book another girl, when L showed up... again... happy and sad... the girl was quite sad... I tell he nvm... she still can stil with me and I will buy her drink... I paid for L's Bar Fine... and chit chat over drinks... my frenz... also follow my lead and also paid their gers bar fine's (of coz... only one ger each lorr... ) so another motorcycle ride back to the hotel... a stroll to the night market, and back to the hotel... this time, no one was there to stop us so we rushed to the hotel room...

Day 5, last day... L had to wake up early for class, so a farewell bonk, walked her to her bike and bid farewell... left for CM airport and back to KL... will really miss CM and definitely wanna go there again soon, especially wif L there
