Khon Kaen Nightlife - Post Covid

time wise from bangkok you dont really save alot of time la.

Travel to airport depending on traffic 30 mins to 1 hour.
Check in early 1.5 hour.
Flight 1 hour
Exit airport another 30 mins to 1 hour.

So you save about 2 to 3 hours of travel.


For me i suggest taking a tour bus up and renting car there.
1. Cheap less than 1k baht for 1 pax.
2. People drive for you can sleep in bus not so tired

only problem is long hours of travel. tour bus maybe 8 to 10 hours.

wonder how its Khon Kaen compared to Udon Thani???
would think Udon Thani would be more popular city and since its just so nearby.....

Haiyo where got need so long one... For domestic flights I usually reach airport 30min before departure, fast game clear bag scanner, just nice reach gate final call. Land liao within 5min of aircraft door opening I already sitting in taxi otw liao

Khon kean is the heart of isaan.. udon thani is just a small city 2hrs away.

Khon kean is empty sunday to thurs. Therez not much to do. Udon has more party style

Its a university area so many people are young. Most are studying and comw out weekends. Go see for yourself

Khon Kaen is happening every day bro. Youngsters party everyday...
you'll be surprised by the thailand party culture. Wonder which places you go that are empty? Have you visited the places i mentioned in 1st post recently?

Udon Thani is definitely more foreigner friendly... And definitely more working girls (nightlife)
Whereas Khon Kaen is a place to pick up your university girlfriend / pay school fees...

Different kind of experience...

Depends on what you are after... But both places have their pros and cons

Clubs are Khon Kaen and Korat are both quite happening
Overall night life Korat has much more variety to offer, as KK mainly caters
to the university crowd

So you will find more Bars, Karaokes, Soapies etc in Korat

There are a lot more working ladies in Korat vs Khon Kaen...
So if you like Karaoke Bars with working ladies, go to Korat.

But Khon Kaen University Girls are really a treat to look at
(imagine like a gathering of the prettiest and smartest girls in Isaan region)


Basically, if you like to party and chase girls like a teenager, go to Khon Kaen.
If you just want to sit down like an uncle with ladies on your left and right, go to Korat

Domestic flight from bangkok got to be at airport 1hr before departure.
Missed my flight once because i arrive 30mins before departure.

For Domestic flights from anywhere else like Udon... arrive airport 30mins before departure also no problem

Been to Khon Kean twice this year. However, both times was just a short night stop over, enroute to further up north Isan.
During one of the night stop over, my friend did brought me to a local Isan disco which the locals call ''walam''.
In downtown Khon Kean, the street and malls are filled with uni students.
I planning a trip to Khon Kean again sometime in first half of October with my buddies.
This time, I am looking forward to check out the rest of the club scene there and probably some other province like Korat.
