Re: Bangkok: Afternoon Activities

There's a taxi stand as soon as u exit airport, walk up n tell the recept your destination. She'll den scribble some words on a ticket n assign u to a cabbie. Unfortunately i once kanna one that said "400 Baht Sir." i replied in simple thai asking why can't go by meter? she got the idea that i wasn't a newbie n hence just waved me off to the cabbie asking him to go by meter.

Err, unlikely. So either you break your 1k baht note (at many money changing kiosks or outlets) or risk a shrug of head/blank look at journey's end. If you going by tollway, try the tollbooth when paying up.

As for taxis, just go down 1flr the escalator from customs exit, and hit the public (meter) taxi Q just outside building. Add +bht50 surcharge to meter. Not unless you feel rich, there's many limo services staff giving you a warm reception.

Bro Norice, you seem to work yourself to a tizzy with your upcoming sojourn to your happiest place on earth. With all your planning, medication etc. As for your girlfriend, can make that plural? Then you won't have peace of mind, never mind being bored. Just jesting

Movies, bowling, shopping malls, early rub down.. can add: hotel poolside (with your book, spying bikini clad swimmers), afternoon nap recharging for night's activity and.... surfing sbf (if you have ensuite LAN or wireless).

Last time, I even had 1 contact for afternoon's delight in room.. and rid of her by telling her (in advance) you got another excuse same evening

If you have not started Thai lessons, you may want to consider attending a Thai Language school. Benefits:

1)Can make friends with other foreigners in your class/school

2) All those questions you do not understand when in Soi Nana, Sukhumvit 33,
Ratchada, Rama 9 ect2 -you can ask teacher to explain.

3)Save $$ as Thai speakers get local price while not Thai speakers normally
pay tourist price.

4) Can also go into non tourist night life area and get cheaper price and
wider selections.

All brothers, you may go to the departure area after you touch down the land of smile, there are many taxi hanging around there after they drop their passenger and hopping to pick up new passenger so that they dont have to go back to city empty, this way you will save 50Baht for your meal, 55.

Used to do this over at old Don Muang, also beat the Q. Not tried this at Suvarnabhum. Means have to dash or cross over to outside lane, lugging your stuff though.

Err, we digressing or are we referring to afternoon cabbie joy ride?

Yeah I always try to board taxi from the departure area in Suvarnabhum. Just watch out for any incoming taxi and you will be just fine. On the other hand, if your time are plenty and wanna save abit, you can go down to the basement and board the air-con city bus. There are a few routes with different drop-off point for you to choose and at a flat rate. Therefore you may enjoy the scenery without having to stare at the meter or come out toll cash.
50 baht maybe a meal or two, maybe one more packet of condom for 3 extra shot

Cheers

Dude!! Awesome suggestion, I do not have any set timetable (maybe get there faster to cheong a little longer) so the bus might be a good idea. Does anyone have information about where they stop? Will be staying at the Palazzo, so I'll need to hop off somewhere near there. Thanks!!

Dude, dont think any of the airport bus routes run there.....all 4/5 routes run towards downtown in the city. My advice is to take bus number 552 from the airport bus terminal, this bus goes to Queen Sirikit Center MRT station. Take the free airport shuttle bus to get to the bus terminal
