malaysia new generation are very liberal nowsaday. In KL, a lot of Malaysia WL and those budgetted hotel dont bother who and who check. Unless those Kelantan or terengganu Malay opposition party ruling state...yes.really stringent. Hotel also got to separate floor for male & female....

I used to book many times freelancer malay chiobu "fighting" in budget hotel yet no problem what... Even Facebook a lot of Malay chiobu offer freelances openly....and chinese and Malay couples hand hold hand also a lot in Malaysia....if it is illegal...then the religion police will be very busy than police....

As a whole, the law still stands in Malaysia but it seems less or more strict in different states. One way of seeing is if the state still practice separating boys and girls etc buses having two different sides for guys and girls. Though you should still try to be as discreet as possible. Another thing you have to worry is about the police trying to extort money from you.

In KL mono rail , yes, they separate the train cabin to guy and girl because during peak hours there will be super squeeze like hell, the monorail company decided to separate the cabin to prevent unnecessary "touch & go"....
