As someone who has been living in BKK for the past 6 years, i can tell you something. Most of these girls are really poor things (of course there are those who are just out to extort you so I also understand you as well). As the atypical Singaporean, we tend to concentrate on getting the most for our money. (best price for best service etc etc). For thais, they are generally am easy-going race. No doubt many classify them as sneaky, cunning and downright money-grubbers. But has anyone thought how that came to be? I've tried to understand the thai mentality for many years and after 3-4 serious relationships, and after amongst them for so many years, I came to the conclusion that beneath their cheerful faces and "sabai,sabi" attitude is one of distrust and paranoia. I can tell you that most thais despite what some say about their tight-knit family ties, they habour these feelings towards their siblings and for some, parents as well. WLs and FLs work their asses (and literally cunts) off for their parents and in the end all they get is an extended hand for more money. The bottomless pit or never-ending story.

So dear friend, pay them what is due to them. If you think about getting a freebie, that's also possible but the emotional baggage and guilt-ridden conscience is not worth it. Like what I tell most of friends who chiong in BKK, "fuck and forget". If you want more than that, then maybe you can procced on to the next level.

For bros who wish to meet up in BKK, I am going back on 17th-20th before I fly to Taiwan for a business meeting and I will be back in BKK on the 24th till the end of the month. One thing though, I don't do MPs cos my wife will strangle the life out of me . KTVs, discos is fine so long as she comes along

The problem with me is I just gave what they ask for, I never cut down on the prices. I dont want to "de value" their service as I do not know what others usually tips them. On my previous trips, usually they will ask for 3K to 4K bahts. So per nite I spent about 5K to 6K on them. No complain on that of course since I usually enjoy their companionship. Thats why I asked the prices usually cheongsters here tips for LT.

Bro, asking price is subjective, one can bargain to 1.5K but the service was so good that the tips was 1K after everything. As I said, when you are there, one tends to forget about the value of money. 1K is no big deal, just about $40 plus but ask yourself, after a bonk in Sing here, did you ever tip a $40? If no, I dont see the need to tip so much then, unless she is exceptionally good.

Problem 1: the promise this girls are making in the bar to go LT with you seldom helds: : Latest at 3:00 in the morning they make a move, quoting all short of bullshit excuses. If that happens, just be firm and only pay her 1/2 of what agreed earlier for LT.

Problem 2: gals in the bar are under peer pressure of their co-workers: they are pushed to ask for 3000 or 4000BHt LT, because they fear that if they agree to a lower rate, their "freinds" will think they are "cheap" girls and thus loose their face. So, be prepared to pay for a gal in the bar approximately double as for the same gal once she's outside.

Well just to share my 1st humble experience in my 1st trip to BBk. The 1st nite I already spend around 2.5K, just to find a hotel to stay, thats, a taxi ride to hotel and a nite stay at Traveller (near to Chaopara Park Hotel). Later realise kena rip big time by the agent at the airport. ( Hotel around 1.2K, but they charge me 1.5K baht and the taxi fare is 700 Baht) which I think if going by meter is around 140 Baht. But later on I wise up of course, got my own taxi and go check in hotel myself better.

I do not know sidelines or those dancing on the bar cost how much but that time I got is those outside hawking for customer. She just push me into the bar KNN, but ok loh cos 1st time there and alone, dunno what to do. After awhile, though she cant speak much english, I think she is very cheerful and playful, so bar fine her out for 500 baht. After that go Nana disco with her and stay till 2am, then go back to my hotel. She stayed till the next morning around noon time then ciao. But before she ciao, ask for tips of 3K, so just gave to her. Duno if its a mistake to give her my HP number, but she will call now and then to ask me when I go back bangkok so I just tease her next time i go see her, no more tips from me and she said ok, haha, can even stay at her apartment.

While speaking of tipping, I have a question of tips paid to 'Ap Nam' girl. I never heard this discussed anywhere.

Generally how much does a Thai man tip an 'Ap Nam' girl in a mid-level (say Catherine, Mono Lisa ) to an upper-middle level (say Utopia, Colonze ) 'Ap Op Nob' ? I am not talking about upscale joint here.

In my visit to Colonze 2 in Ratchada merely weeks ago, an 'Ap Nam' girl in the 1800 B category told me she typically got tips of 200, 300, 500 or even 1000 B from customer.

I am asking this question to see if I should scale down in tipping to be in line with the locals.

As I said before, sky's the limit for tipping. If you like her service, there is chemistry as well and you would like to bring her out after work or date her another day, then perhaps you can tip her better. I guess normally a tip of 200 to 300 baht will do. Please, bro, there are no scale, the only scale is the depth of you wallet.

i love 'shopping' around the meat market outside of Nana after closing. Normally LT is 1500b-2000b range, done it many times already for last year without any hassles. Also easy to makan.....the hamburger stand outside Nana serves up some of the best burgers in Thailand....period.

For me, additional tip above what is agreed is standard 100b for forgettable lousy service and 300-500b for normal to good service

tip i feel is a must...dont want them to get even 'thinner' profit margin by paying for cab to go home

and bro earlier said is correct.......if ger wants to go home after one or two hrs when supposed to be LT....pay her half + 100b taxi fare and let her go. Any trouble, just call security to escort her out.
