There is a third option: one which i bet no one else will ever think of....

As hotel rooms "put the card here to activate lights" dont actually need the specific hotel card to work... your friend could put another hotel's card in the slot, hide the current working card in some special place, and sms the girl the precise location of the card...

I leave it up to you the mechanics of hiding the card and telling her just where the card is.....

To get to your room, don't need key card for lift.
Look for special lift, the fireman lift.

Oh, I got mixed up. The lift lobby can only be accessed by key card only after a certain timing. If I'm not wrong, the timing should be from 10pm to 6am?
