Apartment for rent in Bangkok, Ratchada

my company is a pretty stingy and I have limited budget.. what would you recommend for long term stay (w/ laundry / gum - don't care much for breakfast) with easy access to BTS or MRT (2-3 mins away). Security is important as I have heard of laptops being stolen from rooms ... do let me know ...thanks bros

There are quite a lot of apartments in Ratchada area, I took motor around during the last 2 trips. Pricing varies.... The 2 tall buildings behind Carrefour, old but easy access with facilities, a studio is about 8000THB.

Rates are in months:

Budget: 25K & above

You can afford 40sqm (1 bedroom) & above condo along prime areas such Sathorn/Silom, Sukhumvit (Emporium area). For grade A condos, should be reachable in the 30K level.

Budget 10-24K baht

You can afford the newer and just completed projects such as Life Huay Kwang, Life Ratchada around Ratchada area or BTS after Rachathewi to Morchit area or Sukhumvit On Nut area like LPN condo etc. 10K will probably just get you a studio depending on location.

Budget 7-10K

This should be bottom rate for condos (smallest room) along BTS/MRT lines. Usually much older buildings like what Bro Naemlo mentioned or Ratchada City Condo

Budget: 4-8K

You can get a decent apartment room. And there are plently to choose from and if in Ratchada area, most likely your neighbour is a Puiying Kangkuen (nightlife girl). But security might be an issue. Missing laptops are common stories at these places. Security at Condo property, especially those newer and better managed ones are very safe.

There is a difference between apartment and condo level. Facilities and security is the key difference as well as comfort. Electricity is also cheaper in Condos as they use the BKK metropolitan rate rather than Apartment owner marked-up rate. For certain apartments you need to rent for items like TV or Fridge. For condo, you can choose non/partial or fully furnished. Also negotiate with Condo owner and ensure monthly condo maintanance fees are included in the rental contract. Otherwise, it is 25-45 baht per sqm, depending on type of condos.

Anything below 4K, you are sleeping with factory workers, manual labourers etc.

Of course you need 1 to 2 months security deposit.

Alternatively, you can consider service apartments. At ratchada area, this ranges from Wattana Mansion to Amata (behind China embassy) from 15K to 70K/month. More known places like Somerset/Ascott can be negotiated to 45K-70K range for 1 bedroom

So you are staying at Life Huay Kwang. I was actually thinking of this place when wrote you something regarding finding a place to stay a couple of months ago. Yes, excellent and strategic location. I actually thought of buiying a unit there since a few years ago but so far no action. Regretted as prices already went up. You could have been my tenant. For food and laundry you can go to those eateries along the road bebind. They do deliveries for the many many apartments there but not sure if they can deliver to Life condo. If not, can try the dim sum store across the street on the Ceasar MRT entrance side. If that fails, no choice take a 10 baht motorcycle ride to Huay Kwang area with lots of food.

Being located in Ratchada, no surprise with cute girls. Good luck hunting them. Chances are they are also tenants there

Thanks for your comments! Yes, I do enjoy living at Life @Ratchada, but I still can't locate a decent laundry service near the condo! I saw couple of nice looking tenants but they reminded of mia noi or high class escort ladies!

Today, I shall try the dim sum restaurant as you suggested!

You can try calling this laundry service. They pick up and deliver to condos in Ratchada area. 500 baht for 50 pcs including 1 bed set. A bit expensive compared to local laundry shops but its convenient and so far no mishaps. Good friendly service from the guy who sends the clothes and he speaks some english. 0891040030 / 0863470969
