I think you are comparing Durians, so many specimens. All of them "Pao Jia" are very tasty but all have different taste. For those who do not advertise, they use words of mouth to spread their quality or lack of quality - sometime win sometime lose (A sword has 2 sharp edge)

So when you are here, have limited time to spare and you are in urgent need of bonk, what would you do? Are you going to travel 200+ Kilometers return road trip to save a few bucks, I don't think so! A clever person like you would not waste so much time, right? You precious time are for more important things like making more money in order to cheong better quality WL. Don't you agree?

Me no busy no busy!! I actually enjoyed the company of you guys. The best is the TCSS over a beer or kopi and reminiscing about ABCD & E Cuppers I am going back to Sillypore soon, was actually looking forward to taste prata and chicken rice again, but after venturing up north, I am now reluctant to leave HKG.

DIY PUBLIC TRANSPORT GUIDE FROM HONG KONG AIRPORT TO SHENZHEN

Your method is also feasible. Difference is the cost and hassle if you take the Airport Express train to Lo Wu MTR Station. You need to make two interchanges. One at Hong Kong/Central MTR Station. Another one at Tsim Sha Tsui/East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station. The walk from Tsim Sha Tsui to East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station is a very long walk wor!

Although there're free porter service at the Airport, Tsing Yi, Kowloon and Hong Kong MTR stations. It probably takes up more time than taking Bus A43 from Airport to Sheung Shui MTR Station then to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau MTR Station.

TRAIN ROUTE:
1) Airport --> Hong Kong/Central MTR Station: HK$100.00
2) Central MTR Station --> Tsim Sha Tsui/East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station: No Charge
3) East Tsim Sha Tsui --> Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau MTR Station: No charge

Interchanges from Airport to Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau stations must be completed within one hour.

BUS TO TRAIN ROUTE:
1) Bus A43 --> Sheung Shui MTR Station HK$29.20
2) Sheung Shui MTR Station --> Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau MTR Station HK$20.00

If you take the bus to train route you still have balance of HK$50.80 to buy yourself a Mc'Donald's value meal and have some spare change left. LOL.

Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang 24 hours Border (Fu Tian Kou An) and Shenzhen Bay Port (Shekou) are the least used options. Less traffic. Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang 24 hours Border rocks! One bro recommended to me. I've used it before.

This is not the most comprehensive guide. An alternative way of getting from Hong Kong to Shenzhen is by ferry.

FERRY ROUTE:
Hong Kong International Airport --> Shekou Ferry Terminal
Hong Kong China Ferry Terminal (Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon) --> Shekou Ferry Terminal
Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal (Tseun Wan, Hong Kong) --> Shekou Ferry Terminal

From HKIA, there is a direct bus service to HuangGang (皇岗/福田口岸站) via Lok Ma Chau (落馬洲)). During peak hours, the frequency is 30 Minutes for every departure. When one arrived at HKIA and exit through EXIT A/HALL A, turn left immediately and look out for "Trans-Island" - Cross Boarder Limousine Service. Cost: RMB140.00 or HKD150.00 per person. The ride is about 40 to 60 minutes depending on the traffic conditions. The first departure is 0630 HRS and the last to SZ is Midnight. From SZ to HKIA is 0500 to 2300 HRS and it is cheaper - RMB120.00 (I Think! - very close)

From Hong Kong - Kowloon. There is also a similar service which operate round the clock from Austin Road/Shanghai Street Junction (Near Jordan MTR Station) I have not tried it so unable to advise. All I know is the fare is much than the ride from HKIA. It cost only around HKD40.00 single trip to Huanggang (皇岗/福田口岸站). I have used Huanggang only a handful of times, this place is old and very chaotic, everybody seems to be very nervous/excited and walking very fast. Hong Konger seem to be more impatience than other Nationalities. Last to note about this checkpoint, when you travel by vehicle (Buses, mini-buses or cars) you go through here. For MTR/KCR (Trains) you go through Fu Tian (福田口岸站). These 2 causeway/bridges are about 1 Kilometer apart, crossing over Shenzhen River. Oh, train ride is 45 Minutes from Hung Hom Station and cost about HKD33.00 each way. *I live in Kowloon side, so unable to advise the pick-up point at HKG Island*

In summary, there are so many ways to get from Hong Kong to ShenZhen, all these transportation caters to all, affordable and convenient. Transport network in Hong Kong is afterall very good.

Hope to meet up with you this trip. However I'm only free on 21st Jul night onwards. I saw your plan for sauna visit in Feng Gang Town, Dong Guan. Unfortunately it takes too much effort and time to just visit this sauna unless I happen to pass by there. There're many cheaper and good quality sauna options available in Fu Tian (SZ) and Gong Bei (ZH).
