LATEST NEWS:

due to the new police boss, Bangla has been early closing for 4 days now... Music had to stop 2.10am on 28/01 and 2.20 am on29/01, bars are open for another hour but no music or lights on...

I am not sure if entirely due to new boss or because of the bad things happened in Phuket during the last month(s), and Governor may be involved in crackdown.

A lot of bars were busted 4 days ago, which is very uncommon, normally they just tell you to close but dont bust you. Soi Crocodile was closed for a while on 29/01 as a protest but look like they opened up later on in the evening anyway. Soi Eric had no music for a short time, but still unclear if due to the protest or if the amplifier had problems. (Happens sometimes)

It is due to the 'pla-wan' incident in phuket town, rasada area. Since the incident happened crack down all over the island on closing time.

Usually, upscale hotels and hotels targeting "regular" tourists and families are not GF (I mean they ask you to pay a joiner fee, which can be up to 1000 bath- the price of a short time with a beer bar girl). You can always check by asking them directly by email if they charge a joiner fee, it's thailand so nobody will be shocked if you ask.
