is not a crime to help rent room/unit but if she used the room/unit for illegal criminal activities then as tenant you may be investigated...also you may be charged for illegal subletting...

question is why bother to do so for her when she not related to you...she can always go stay backpacker hostel or hotels...after investigation complete she will be deported...

if woman is divorce in her country then good chance if you as potential spouse meets ICA requirements of sponsoring her...ie. pay plenty of taxes and cpf...

if woman (divorce to me cannot term lady) was divorced in Sinkieland and ex-hubby cancelled the ltvp then chances are poor she may be granted another chance...she maybe termed undesirable woman in her ICA records...but all base on her case merits esp if she can contribute to sinkieland society by paying lots of taxes..

Re: Issue with ICA

Hi guys

Not sure if this is the right place to post but wanna 请教 Bros and sister’s here on some advice.

Have a family member (Singapore citizen) who is marrying a girl against his parents wishes. The girl is from PRC and work for a while in Japan and Korea. Both of them are in their 30s and though the Singapore Citizen is employed, he will be jobless soon and unlikely to find employment in the short term. The girl will be coming to Singapore and look for job here after they ROM.

He applied for a Long Term Visit Pass and they got the eligibility letter cos he is employed then. The couple registered for marriage with ROM and will be ROMing soon.

R there any ways to encourage MOM/ICA to not approve the girl’s Long Term Visit Pass? For those suggest we talk to them, already done so Liao but they are headstrong in getting married and the gal is intend to move to Singapore.

https://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-pe...-issued-by-ica

If you are holding a Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) issued by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), you can work in Singapore only if you get a work pass.

Note:

You are not allowed to work in objectionable occupations such as a dance hostess or a masseur.
Your LTVP should have a validity of at least 4 months remaining if you wish to apply for a Work Permit.

Bro,

In order for the gal to work she has to go thru plenty of ordeal. First her salary will not be great and she may have to pay the foreign workers levy which after deduction left 1k or less.

When the LTVP due for renewal then hubby have to show proof of income to be sponsor.

Hope this answer.

Bro, regardless whether he is family or not, why would you want to stand in his way to happiness? Let him walk his own path, along with the joys and pains it has.

Re: Issue with ICA

Does anyone know for how long is the ban for ex-yellow card holder?

If married her in her home country, is it possible to apply for ltvp for her to remain in Singapore?

If you marry her in her country...think is still difficult for her to come in Singapore...so you need to appeal and be patient...why not live in her country...

Thanks for helping to link all the posts, would help others with the same question.

I actually searched the forum but cannot find any success stories of obtaining LTVP for long term stay. Understand that ex-yellow card holders are actually "prohibited immigrants" under the Immigration Act, hence chances will be low. Did see in past posts where others mentioned it was possible to obtain a social visit pass after some years, though.

Just wondering if anyone is able to share successful stories of obtaining LTVP, which would offer some hope.

Staying in her country is the last resort, but practical issues of leaving everything behind and making a living in a foreign country is of concern.
