This is the way, give bx one lump sum and ask her to control by herself. Everytime when my bx goes back to province, i will give her a lump sum and tell her that i won't send her more if she finishes the amount, so she got to control by herself.

I am here la. I moved from HCM back to Singapore in 2007, never will i move back there again. I just go on monthly business trips. Singapore is good place for my children's education. Earn money abroad and stay in Singapore for its education, clean environment and safety. This is my philosophy.
Bro for me I just only give to her Immediate family members only. I won't give to her older bro but I will give to her younger sis. No need to give to Uncles and Aunties but their kid you can give like small amount of 10K to 20K.
I was in HCM for the past 3 days for business and for my wife to meet her mother and sister in HCM. Gave my MIL 8 million VND for TET. The rest of the family go fly kite!! The other sisters and brothers only want her mother to give land for them to sell and take money, never give money even for TET. Hopeless and lazy f**K, useless!! Only i and my wife's BIL give total of 12 million VND for TET, if we never give, i think they just sit there and let the old couple spend TET without money. But to be true, my MIL is richer than what i thought, still got lots of VND to lend to her brother and her children. PUI!!

You are one of the lucky ones. I built a house for my bx's mother when we got married 11 years ago. After that , its simply just give allowances when i want to.
We got to put our resources for my children here. Getting a house and car are quite basic. After that, resources into children's education. My focus has always been on growing my wealth for my children and family. Giving to in-laws is secondary. They are healthy and should work for a living.
My MIL and SIL came to meet us in HCM for the recent trip. I brought them to higher class restaurant in HCM and my SIL simply just took her own sweet time to eat. I had to rush for business appointment and there she sat, telling my wife that such good food should be eaten slowly and enjoyed. Damm, my wife and i almost fainted. My wife , though still rural vietnamese by birth, has gotten used to the pace of life in Singapore. She told me that she couldn't stand the way her sister does things, so slow and lazy. We stayed at Somerset Residences and when we were about to check out, my SIL went to the toilets to get the remaining few toilet rows and even wanted to take the towels etc. My wife and i almost fainted and my wife stopped her. So eventually, she only took the toilet rolls.
We should always look to upgrade ourselves and save for the future of our family. When have 4 room flat, should think of upgrading to 5 room or even EC. When have EC, should think of private condo etc.... Strive for better life when we can do it. We are already in our 40s, not much time left to strive for better life.

Learning from it and what other stories here. Told my ban gai that the amount given was for Tet and she had spent before tet, then too bad.
They are really bad in budgeting especially when they think they have atm. At least now my ban gai is slowly looking at things differently and from my view point.
To learn english in vietnam is to preferably to go a school and get a certificate or engage a home tutor. which is better?
This is thinking for future in case need to apply for passes in singapore; certs do help in our environment
English certificates are useless in applying for passes in Singapore. Only academic certificates like Higher diplomas, bachelor /master degrees are useful .

I agree that education is very important and its better than leaving your fortune to your children's.. The problems with poor vn children's and folks are the lack of educations therefore will affect their future which makes them poor.. I believe that every country which has lots of poor citizens and families all comes from poor education background..
The lack of education do matters but the lack of enforcement in vietnam also caused this problem. They are too many lack of enforcing in Vietnam. Hence they will not have any sense of moral.
