Like what the other Bro have said, yes you can open a Bank account in PRC without living there, provided you have a PRC mailing address and passport.

Account name can be in English, same as your passport.

I did so too when I was working there, open with ICBC, an account which can handle 3 x multi currency deposits including USD, SGD and RMB. Withdrawals from Branches outside that City requires some service charges. Do signed up for the Internet Banking so that when you are out of PRC, you can still manage the account online.

Cheers!

Re: Chinese RMB rates..

I open an account in a small town with Bank of China with only a Spore passport and do not have any problem. However the problem is with the BoC in Spore. The girl(PRO I think),informed me that as a casual traveller to Cn ,I can remit S$ or US$(and definately not RMB Yuan)from here into my Cn bank account.(Even Bankdraft in RMB yuan won't do) Any brother can advise how to remit RMB into my Cn account??Will remittance service provider be useful for this purpose??

What's the latest rate(S$ to RMB Yuan) & where to get the best exchange rate.(PPC=People's Park Complex??I presume!!)

I dun really understand what u talking.

U mean u open an account in china or singapore with BOC???

If the account(personal) is open in China, yes u can remit RMB into that account using the private TT services. But if it's a company account, yes ur gal is right. International, when we remit money into china, it's only in USD. Then in china, they will convert the USD into RMB again. They dun trade RMB straight. As for bank, I have not use them before. not sure.

If u open an account in singpore at BOC, too bad. I ask that time, they say they operate differently from china. So even if u remit money from BOC(singapore) to BOC(china), there will still be a remit charge and currency exchange diff. Cause BOC(singapore) dun trade rmb( dun have RMB saving account). only in singapore dollar and other major currency.

As far as I know, I dun remember that we can open a RMB account anywhere in the world other then in china.

*correct me if wrong. This is as far as what I know.
